good fox then, usually they take the head & leave the body, this one seems to have had more sense & gone for the meatier bit!
awful when it happens, but they don't know any better.
they're gorgeous creatures. one's coming very close to our garden lately (i have rabbits, guinea pigs and quail)
next door had chickens until recently, and apparently mr. fox took one of their hens a while back
i've seen our dog chase him out of our garden once, and he tired taking off after him down the street on another occasion, thankfully he'll give up if you shout him back
more worried about my dog than the fox to be honest, more likely that jake would come off worse, despite being bigger, not that he'd ever catch up, the fat boy
the mild weather has played havoc with the wildlife this past year, the cubs might have been born early due to the weather
they're usually born in march-april, following the january-february mating season
by the end of September the same year, they will be just about fully grown and living independently, so they're unlikely to be last years kits, especially if they are visibly "cub like"
