I cant believe it has been nearly a year since the last one! Must be because Adele's performance has been played all year along with her Music. She is going to be number 1 on the albums chart again this sunday too.

I wonder if she will make a comeback after her throat surgery and perform again?

I don't know if she'll perform, they may want her to but after the stunning performance last year she may just want to leave it at that. She'll clear out though, she'll get British Female, British Album and Best Single without a doubt

She said in a recent interview that, because she was singing with strained vocal cords for 3 - 4 months, she has to build her voice back up again throughout January, but says she should be able to sing again in February.

I presume they'll have an Amy Winehouse tribute and I'd be very surprised if she didn't at least appear in that (as long as she's fully recovered).

I read something on Friday that says one of those awards Adele will loose and It was not to Harvey. And that came from the BPI.

If you think Adele will clear up you are seriously misinformed. Don't worry, Adele will still win Best British Single so it's not all bad.

Are the Brits a pompous affair? Being from the states, I really don't know. If it's like the Mercury, then you are right. PJ would most likely win. That album received a lot of acclaim and Adele may get backlash in the face of her mainstream popularity.

But Adele lifted the industry on her back this year. 16 million people at least liked the album enough to buy it. 2011 was the year of Adele.

And am I the only one know found it hard to get through Let England Shake? I probably need to give it another listen.

The public get to vote at the BRIT awards (bar Critic's choice of course) so due to Adele's high popularity she will get the most votes

I don't think she'll win Best Album, maybe Coldplay or Noel Gallagher? this isn't a public vote and neither are the best male and female awards.

Remember what happened to previous females that done very well in terms of sales er but never won a brit.

Leona - should have cleared the 2008 show.

Lily Allen - eventually won in 2010.

I do hope she wins but with the snubbing in previous tears and complete no ones winning, you are never 100% certain.

Oh yes of course, Florence will be in there with her new album, I'd really love to see Will Young nominated for best album too, it's excellent and the best of his career.

That's impossible this year because PJ Harvey is going to win. It's already set it stone.

I can't remember a time when a solo female has enjoyed so much success with an album. Not only here in the UK but in the States and the rest of the World. She wrote it, her live performances of the tracks have been outstanding. For the B rits panel to ignore this and give the award to a woman , who most people wouldn't recognise if she jumped up and bit their bums, would surely make the whole ceremony look so ridiculous that it would never be relevant again.

That said, It wouldn't suprise me at all if this were to happen, we Brits just hate success and as for rewarding it, no way.

IIRC they gave the award to just such an artist last year so who knows? It does seem like PJs record company are trying to drum up some sales prior to the show - her album can be had for as little as £3.99 delivered.

I don't think it's that surprising that they've chosen PJ Harvey. The awards are supposed to be about the best music and the most talented rather than sales and PJ Harvey's album has been rated higher than any other British artist so it makes sense. It's like Laura Marling last year. Clearly the most talented and highest rated artist on the list so she won. Simple really.

I think some people are getting confused by thinking that something that sales the most is the best. Clearly that is not always the case.

For 'Best British Single' I can see One Direction walking it if nominated. Their fanbase will vote like mad.

if its someone like you/rolling in the deep v what makes you beautiful then i dont think they'll win over adele. and really tbh i dont want them to, seeing as leona lost. and alex did too. and JLS are the only XF act to win a brit so....if 1D win its like shitting in the face of actual talent (vocals anyway) tbh. a catchy song but not a patch on SLY which has had more success than WMYB. also with adele the material is really good and it came from her soul. surely that should count for something?

lets face it the adele two singles are among the best selling singles in the world and of all time.

Have you actually listened to PJ Harveys album? Maybe you wouldn't be so quick to reduce this argument to which person would get the most recognition down the street if you had.

PJ Harvey's album is exceptional. Fully deserving of all the praise it's received. I'd still be shocked if it won anything at the Brits though.
