Somebody on this board has just said...

...that they enjoyed the show when Ronnie Corbett was on.

Oh god.

That was my all time worst. The token man when Bruce was sick because Tess and Claudia couldn't possibly carry a show on their own and any male would be better than nothing. And he was nothing. Appalling.

Why "enjoyed" ? Did he tell a good story?
I needed reminding he had stood-in at all.
The management probably looked at him and thought they could pay only child rates.

I did hear that the only reason he appeared was that Bruce had phoned him and asked him to stand in as Bruce was ill - with no reference to the producers who were quite happy for Tess and Claudia to do it on their own. He was obviously worried that they would make too good a job of it!! Corbett was dreadful and totally out of his depth.

Did Corbett actually do ANYTHING when he was on the show? As far as I remember he was unveiled at the beginning with Tess and Claudia and then sat in the audience like any other celeb... or did he do the "here they are in training bits?", although I'm pretty sure Tess did that and just prompted the occasional Corbett input from the sides...

Does Bruce have that much sway? And more fool to Corbett for agreeing when he must have realised he'd be out of his depth - a great line from another poster!

Corbett hadn't a clue what was going on.

or summat.

No, I'd heard he's receiving meals on wheels.

If he was delivering he would be 'meals under wheels.'

Interesting though, the post about Bruce apparently calling him up. Shows how far removed from modern day entertainment Bruce is.
