That's bad to lose over 1m but I imagine most people head to bed afterwards given it aired at 11pm, think behind BB at 10pm it should crack 1m. I think it lost viewers after first CBB but it had a much bigger lead in.

Can't say I'm too surprised, it was always going to be either a smash hit or a stinking flop and it looks like it'll be the latter. I guess ITV won't be attempting another 'genre' show again any time soon.”

It's a poor rated start for Eternal Law - gives it absolutely no breathing room to drop, but we know there's going to be a hell of a big drop in store for it in the next few weeks! If there's one thing I've learnt from reading this thread in the last 5 years is that ITV and quirky/strange/weird/"high concept" dramas just don't go together, it's a recipe for disaster. I bet it experiences one of the bigger week-on-week drops next Thursday (about -25%) and is down to about 3m. Never a mainstream drama here, a waste of time and money.

EE and Corrie both seem low, but the Emmerdale rating looks alot better.

Twitter trends are meaningless and give no clue to ratings. Last Comic Standing trended worldwide and New Tricks never trended on Twitter but New Tricks got the far higher ratings.

Ah, okay, so that's (just so we're clear and so other's don't think the smaller values are +1's:

BBC One
19:30 - EastEnders: 8.942m

ITV1
19:00 - Emmerdale: 8.021m
20:00 - Emmerdale: 8.480m
20:30 - Coronation Street: 8.819m

All include HD, exclude +1 and are full slot averages.

Close between the three soaps.

I think Twitter does tell you something about the 16-34s. Looks like CBB comfortably won its slot last night among those viewers.

Very good news for ITV:

"ITV forecast to have stronger-than-expected first quarter advertising earnings, according to analysts"

They do suggest a younger audience though. Which is what C5 will be wanting.

How did CBB do on C5+1? Looking at rzt's chart it must have bene 0.4m which is very good considering the channel's only been airing a month.

If the programme thread is anything to go by, only 25% liked it!!!

Bets on Eternal Law staying above 2m by the end of it's run?

Do we have a breakdown, how many more stopped watching after 14 mins?

I'm almost certain rzt's CBB rating is for the Final, not Launch from last year.

3.46m watched Channel 5, 3.54m watched including +1, so only 80k watched on +1.

Eternal Law unexpected won it's slot, but let's ignore that and guess next week's rating instead. Isn't that a discussion for next week?

My bad. Here's the correct CBB 2011 (last year's) launch demos: http://i43.tinypic.com/auw4xz.jpg

What was the 16-34 demo this time, Dancc?

My mistake, 80k seems low, it should be doing 100k+ but it's early days and it will come in handy when the US imports return.

and EE had 9.65m(it finished early)

Currently Tracey Beaker Returns is the top trend but I doubt it'll beat the soaps tonight!

Twitter trends give an indication. But I never follow them for an idea on ratings.

Unexpectedly won it's slot? I think most people presumed it would.

Are we not allowed to talk about a show's future ratings now then? Please let us know when we can predict for next week's episode.

Thanks rzt. This time around it had 1.33m 16-34s watching, 30% of those watching TV between 9pm and 11pm.

So down 23% on last year's CBB going by this part of the audience, not as much as the 32% drop we saw among Total People. Indeed if it had only fallen by 23% across all ages then it would have just about hit 4m overall.

Overall, a little disappointing, but not disastrous. And still bloody excellent for a channel that is lucky to crack 1m some nights these days. The real story will emerge over the next few days, hopefully it won't drop as much as usual post-launch.
