In terms of overall market share, all the broadcasters were up slightly y-o-y: ITV (+0.9%), CH4 (+0.7%), BBC (+0.3%), CH5 (+0.2%). In terms of terrestrial channels, all were down y-o-y: BBC1 (-0.3%), C5 (-2.9%), BBC2 (-4.2%), C4 (-4.9%), ITV1 (-6.5%). Worth noting that BBC1's drop in reality would've been slightly more than stated above because pre-October 2010, HD ratings for BBC One programmes weren't automatically part of BBC1's share % as they have been all of this year - I suspect even taking that into account though it would've been down about -2% max. Also ITV1's y-o-y decline, if ITV1+1 was to be included as it was its first year making y-o-y comparisons for the main channel more difficult than usual, would be -2.8%
The BBC's most improved channel in 2011 was BBC4 (+17%). For ITV, their biggest growing digital channel was ITV3 (+13% y-o-y). Film4 was the biggest gainer out of CH4's portfolio of channels, up +18% y-o-y. For Channel 5, 5USA was up +11% vs. 2010.
