Cheers. Good ratings for the pair of them. Any idea how 8-10pm rated on BBC HD too? It might've bumped up TMOED to 3m. Also how did Body of Proof start on C5?

Say what you like about TRB's ratings.

But at least it came second. ITV being soundly beaten by BBC2 for two prime hours is appalling. Worse is that nobody is surprised!

I wonder if that 2.1m is including or excluding +1. And good stuff from BOP! However ITV gameshows on Tuesdays, not the best thing!

I doubt it. The two recent 3d broadcasts demonstrated that many don't know BBC HD exists any more and assume it was replaced by BBC One HD.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood had 3.1m (including HD). Comfirmed just now by Sam Hodges.

Yet again another new flop for the flopzone. They've tried nature programmes, male orientated docs, home related programmes and now game shows and nothing has gone above 3m. The only programme which seems constant is WWTBAM, but I don't think the live specials should be sacrificed here. One offs like The Betty Driver story & The Butlins Story seem to deliver decent numbers, so maybe more one offs like this should be commissioned? Either that or repeats of YBF or moving a decent rating gameshow like Family Fortunes there. Failing that it would have to be more drama repeats.

Good night for Ch5. I was expecting BOP to be around 1.2/1.3m. It will be interesting how it holds up with drama competition though. CBB steady yet again above 2m and comfortably beating Shameless.

I missed that news, so no more (occasional) simulcasts of BBC3/4 and random repeats during the afternoon

ITV1 has gone so heavy with soaps and docu-soaps over the last year that more casual viewers don't routinely tune into the channel anymore.

So it takes some (expensive) promotion to get a significant audience to the channel when the soaps aren't on. Can they spend that promo money? Not on a new gameshow they can't.

So ITV1s cheap non-soap filler programming will increasingly suffer ratings-wise since only the more expensive programmes can justify promotional spending.

Well I know BBC2 will air more repeats over the next few years, so BBC3/4 programmes could easily be shown on BBC2 HD.

http://www.techradar.com/news/televi...hannel-1032228

The BBC has indicated that it will close the hugely popular BBC HD channel and replace it with a BBC 2 HD simulcast channel as aprt of its cost-cutting.

Around 2,000 'posts' are sadly being ended as the BBC looks to reduce its budget significantly, and there will be changes to the face of UK television as well.

The BBC HD will live on in the history books as the UK's first dedicated free-to-air HD channel, although its impact has waned since the launch of BBC 1HD.

BBC2 HD
Meanwhile, BBC 3 and BBC 4 are now being designated feeder channels for BBC 1 and BBC 2 – which will mean that there is no need for a BBC HD channel to showcase the best HD shows from 2,3 and 4.

Simulcast HD channels make sense, with increasing numbers of programs being produced in HD, and upscaling capable enough of filling in the gaps until the entire schedule moves to high definition.

BBC HD launched as a trial in May 2006, with full rollout beginning at the end of 2007 after approval from Ofcom.

The first show to be broadcast was the first episode of the wonderful Planet Earth series, featuring television legend Sir David Attenborough.

Also being scaled back are red button interactive services, which remain popular on the BBC but have been competing with more modern apps and internet services in recent years.

Thanks very much. Pointless still going very strong then. I think The Chase is rating better than how it was doing this time last year even though the competition is much tougher. The two gameshows clashing is probably knocking off about 500k from each show. I'm not sure if CCDWM was a repeat or not but that looks pretty low for it, as it used to get close to 2m viewers.

Yes it was, even so a decent number watching 4 of the main channels between 5pm and 6pm - 8.714m. I know Channel 5 News / CSI repeat at teatime would not add much though.

What was CBB with +1?
Great for the Bake Off, decent night for BBC2! Not too good for Exit List and wow The Fat Fighters did very badly, I expected double that!

Shameless is really not what it used to be and 90210 is at its regular rating.
