ITV have lost the plot since Adam Crozier came onboard.
I know they have some "big" programmes but they won't be big forever. The reliance on soaps is killing their non-soap stuff. 13% for ITV1 in winter is insanely awful. |

Attempts to strengthen ITV overall have been thrown out now after Daybreak crashed, outside of that they haven't really bothered. Quote:
With BBC HD in 31% of homes (latest Ofcom figures), that's still a very low percentage of viewers.
Top Gears is higher than the average for HD as a percentage of total audience just from a quick look! |

Crozier is only interested in profits and getting ITV's share value up - then he'll be off with a ''Golden goodbye''

![]() Pointless - 2948 PYMWYMI - 1950 The Chase - 2532 + 94 CCDWM - 1284 EastEnders is Ok, Emmerdale is fine. BBC Two did well, the ITV Flop Zone, well when is ITV going to fix it? its gone on too long for it not to be a bigger problem, commissioning needs to be better. Quote:

Tuesday 10th January Overnights
Channel 5 19:00- Celebrity Wedding Planner: 283k (1.3%) 20:00- Cowboy Builders: 1.45m (6.2%) 21:00- Body of Proof: 1.73m (7.1%) , +1: 118k (0.6%) 22:00- Celebrity Big Brother: 2.09m (11.4%) And I see ITV have really killed off The Biggest Loser after an OK performance last year. Would it just be better off airing drama repeats on Tuesday nights as nothing seems to be working? |

Bonkers. All HD channels are less than those that could watch it (ALL of them!). Eurosport is the only BARB reported channel that can be compared to BBC HD and HD simulcasts regularly attract 30-40% of viewers. e.g Ski Jumping World Cup Saturday Dec 17, 12.41pm SD 21k, HD 14k . 40% watched in HD. |

On the subject of The Biggest Loser - I'm pretty sure it was screened at 5 pm on weekdays last year which somehow seems a better slot for it.

That said of course The Biggest Loser is primetime in other markets. |

Thing is what do ITV do to make Tuesday's better. You can't say they haven't tried. They have had game shows, Reality Shows, documentaries and Dramas there but nothing seems to work.
Maybe ITV should just have a hour long Emmerdale and a hour long Corrie on Tuesday. At least that would get them more then 6m |

At least that would get them more then 6m They won't spend decent money on such a traditionally low-rating night, so personally, I'd go with male and upmarket factual. A "Wormwood Scrubs" would have done well last night against DIY SOS. |

Indeed, but it's interesting how some programmes are clearly ''daytime'' and just don't translate to an evening showing.I don't know whether it's lower production standards, after all the same viewers are probably watching as not everyone goes to bed at 7 pm.
The art is in being able to see which shows appeal to both sets of audiences. ITV schedulers don't have that knack, hence programmes like Dickinson's Real Deal suddenly popping up at 8pm. |

Can I ask, why do the Channel 5 shows include +1 but they don't for CBB?

The Biggest Loser should be a big hit; a weight loss show in January- how can it fail?
I have watched both episodes, and in my eyes there has been very little content in either show; I want to know how they have lost the weight; what food they eat, what excercise they do etc. Instead we have sob story after sob story, we then see Davina McCall doing the excercise but very little of the contestants, the only talk of food was when we heard a contestant wasn't eating. They employ these three trainers, but yet we see nothing of them. |

Really impressed to see C5 a whole share point ahead of C4 yesterday in prime. It could have been more as well had the rapid repeat of CWP not tanked. Great night for them and what looks like a very strong Tuesday lineup. NCB could rise again next week with weaker competition.
Great night for BBC Two as well. |

ITV1 have repeated an error they made a few years ago in destroying their brand. A good brand can get big audiences watching any old tat with minimal promotion.
In fact all the "top 5" channel seem to have gone astray in recent years. They get a new chief exec who changes everything, get's the boot, new chief exec changes everything, get's the boot.... Possibly some connection with the gradual drift away from the top 5 channels? |

I doubt it. The two recent 3d broadcasts demonstrated that many don't know BBC HD exists any more and assume it was replaced by BBC One HD.

Any figures? Especially for those where the viewer doesn't need to find a different channel number for the HD version.

Thing is what do ITV do to make Tuesday's better. You can't say they haven't tried. They have had game shows, Reality Shows, documentaries and Dramas there but nothing seems to work.
For example, they had a 3-part factual series in late-2010 called 'The Zoo' average 3.6m in the Tuesday 8pm slot, better than 90% of shows they've had in that slot in the last couple of years. Any normal commissioner would instantly look at those figures and decide to recommission it, probably for a longer 6-10 part series. What do ITV do? Nothing, they just leave it and don't do anymore episodes. They had The Savoy get 4.1m in a Tuesday 9pm slot in late-2010 - again, pretty much as good as it gets there. But for some reason they didn't do a follow-up series even though the potential was there to do so. The Betty Driver Story got almost 4m viewers in a Tuesday 8pm slot - you'd have thought after that rating, they might've done a few more one-off 'The [Corrie character] Story' episodes, but nope - nothing since then. They had a 2-part factual show called Smugglers get about 3.5m at 9pm last year, quite high rated for that slot. But it wasn't renewed. In addition to the above, they could also have easily turned Strangeways into a factual series strand for the channel, returning year after year - 5.5m in the Monday 9pm slot last year, it would've got about 4m in a Tuesday 9pm slot. But that's not coming back. And they also have a gameshow capable of 3.5m at Tuesday 8pm (WWTBAM), so what do they do? Cancel the regular series and commission other gameshows which get 1m or more fewer viewers. 90% of programmes fail for ITV1 in that Tuesday 8-10pm zone, so they really must take advantage of those 10% of programmes which rate decently or well, yet for some bizarre reason they don't. And so that Tuesday 8-10pm zone ends up being a downward spiral: they're constantly having new programmes (which flop 90% of the time) but not recommissioning the 10% of decent/well rated shows.
