But that studio set looks cheap, tacky and small scale.
In a word, shite.
Why are people assuming this will be a success. It's got "expensive ratings disaster" written all over it. Even Willoughbooby won't be enough to save it.
(Those "V" sign hands could come back to haunt them. I can just see the tabloids having fun with that when ratings plummet as viewers deliver their verdicts...)”
Agree about the V signs but expect you to change your tune should it do well. The set is just for the audition stage (and possibly a revised version for the Battles), so is plenty adequate and modelled on the original. It could go either way - it'll definately debut well I suspect and could go anyway after then.

Ultimately Heartbeat and The Royal aired for a couple of years after filming finished, and in all honesty Heartbeat couldn't be stuck in 1969 forever. I'm surprised though we're yet to see a 70s spin-off.

Wonder if they'll be 2.3m more cases of shoplifting this week then - though in theory everyone will get away with it. I suspect Anthony Worrall Thompson might have boosted the show too, making it seem a bit current rather than random.

Interesting - if that's true I think the BBC will walk it.

Exactly. For years people have said they want The X Factor to be taken a bit more seriously but the biggest criticisms this series were that the new judges (Kelly and Gary especially) took it too seriously and the show was lacking a Jedward/Wagner type act in the live stages.

The fewer changes the BBC can make the better - presumably John De Mol has seen what the BBC has done to other formats and how they seem to strip back the things which make the show special in order to appeal to the middle of the road Saturday night audience.
