Liked the look of J J Jegede in the long jump. It's an opeconvent this season so the more 8m jumpers we have, the better.

Saw a clip of Michael Johnson talking about GB team and Bolt. Said that 2012 is too early for our team. Said that Bolt has no rivals and that if he's fit and focused he'll win his races. http://news.sky.com/home/article/16173027

Very good article about Isinbayeva in the Times today ( I cannot give a link due to the pay wall). She is very much up for it at the Olympics, and intends to retain her Gold. Her and Holly Bleasdale are up against each other tonight in Stockholm. Yelena does not consider Holly a threat to her at the moment, remembering her first Olympics where she totally failed at the same age as Holly. Should ber interesting to see what happens.

http://88.131.109.176/folksam/xlgalan12/result.php Big news was a new world record in the woman's pole vault. Very disappointing for Jegede in the long jump. Lets the hope the 8.05cm wasn't a one of performance. |

![]() Shame we didn't get to see it but it's on youtube now. If she's back to her best can't see anyone else getting close to her in the Olympics |

Haile Gabresellasie might have trouble getting selected for the Ethiopian team for the Marathon after a (for him) poor run in the Tokyo marathon.

What is everyone's view on the Shana Cox, basically an American 400m runner now racing for team GB?
The women's 400m is one of the few events in which we have a strong enough group of athletes where we do not need any help from foreigners! Nicola Sanders, Perri Shakes Dreyton, Nadine Okyere and of course Christine O are a capable quartet of athletes- and it looks as though one of them will be missing out on the London 2012 Olympics...How is that fair? |

It's not really up to UK Athletics, though. If the people concerned have UK passports, have the qualifying times, win the UK Championships and conform to IAAF rules for changes of nationality then we have to pick them or face long expensive law suits.

Will be interesting to see if these 'plastic Brits' still continue to crop up post 2012 - there have been a real rash of them in recent years. Surely there have always been Americans with a British parent who couldn't get selected for the US team yet all of a sudden they seem to be falling over themselves to compete for Team GB.

I have no issue with Britons born and brought up abroad being part of Team GB. However it leaves a bad taste in the mouth when athletes especially from the US realise they can't make the team and then decide they are British.

Yep. I don't think anyone is in Bolt's league in the 100m, if he's in sub 9.6 form.. But as we know if Blake had had a better start in his flying 200m he could have beaten Bolt's record. If Blake is in that form again, Bolt would have to run close to 19 dead to be sure of winning. I think he can do 18.9 with the wind behind him but it's a tough ask!

I agree with that. Someone who wants to switch to Britain because of the higher profile the sport has here I have no problem with. But if you switch because you can't make the American or may be the Jamaican team then that's a bit dodgy.

All starts tomorrow. Morning session (in UK time) is 07:30 to 12:00, evening is 15:00-18:30. Coverage is split between Channel 4/More 4 and Eurosport/Eurosport2. Friday's gold medals are just the women's pentathlon, otherwise the only final is the men's shot and everything else is heats and semis.
I dunno if C4 do live streaming, but during the last outdoor WC the VOD service put up the broadcasts a little while later. http://www.iaaf.org/Mini/wic12/Resul...ltsByDate.aspx |
