AV2HDR - problem with HDV files

AV2HDR works fine for me with DVD-compliant MPEG-2 program streams and VOBs themselves.

The problem is with .mt2 / .mt2s files copied from an HDV camcorder. These are bog standard MPEG-2 transport streams with 1440x1080i50 MPEG-2 video at 25Mbps. I've made these work in the past, but can't now!

When given directly to AV2HDR, the new TS created by AV2HDR won't play on the PC (or the HDR). When re-muxed into a program stream before passing to AV2HDR, I get the same problem. I've tried various bits of software, different muxers etc, but no luck.

I'm wondering if there's something strange with the time stamps, or open GOP, or something - or if I was just lucky in some specific respect when it worked before.

Any ideas?

Any chance of a sample ?.

I don't have any HD mpeg2 content other than converting some H264/AVC content. I will see what AV2HDR makes of a converted file.

Thanks for checking Graham. I've copied a NASA video with the same specs once too, and that was fine.

Anyway, I've got plenty of my own samples I could upload, though to hit 31 seconds it needs to be over 100MBs. If I can find something boring/nondescript enough to share, I'll drop it onto mediafire later.

The original works fine on my PC in everything I've tried, though it may have some problem I don't know about. Some start with an open GOP, but I don't think this one does.

The new TS created by av2hdr just plays with a black screen in VLC. Doesn't play at all on the HDR - just drops back to live TV.

The file came from a Canon HV20, captured using HDVsplit under windows XP.

Looks like it's an issue with your PC (codec ?).

Converted on Win7 32 laptop.

Converted video plays fine using Splash Lite and from usb stick on Foxsat.

Oh dear, that's a pain. I can't imagine what codecs av2hdr needs, because it doesn't encode/decode anything, just re-mux. I'll try it on some different PCs and see if I can spot a trend. Maybe something newly installed has broken something, but I haven't spotted anything else broken, and I do quite a lot of video processing.

Would you like the converted files, it would be interesting to look at them side by side with a hex editor ?.

Oh, yours vs mine - yes please, I suppose that might help.

Mine is about the right size, but any MPEG thing I try to load it into chokes, suggesting it's very wrong (can't find sequence header, or something like that).

Incidentally one for Raydon should he read this thread. My copy of AV2HDR (not the latest ftp version (its V 1.4.1) - could that be a clue). doesn't list .m2t by default though it clearly works with it.
