The Mail says today they are considering Miranda Hart as the new judge. She would be excellent!

There are 3 people on there who know what to look for with regards to technicalities - Miranda would be a good choice as there'd be no pretending she knows what she's talking about. She would be free to say what impressed her, rather than having to justify herself like Alesha had to.

She's also been hilarious on ITT.

The Mail can consider who they like, it won't be her...fortunately.

The choice has got to be considered outrageous, as was Alesha's selection at the time.

It's all about ratings, you see.

I would think that just as a lot may agree for the reasons you give others would disagree for exactly the same ones. It would be a contraversial choice, perhaps more so than any ex-pro or former contestant.

I love Miranda but not as a judge.

That really would be a disaaaster

Reminds me a bit of when American Idol hired Ellen degeneres...

Nowhere near as controversial as was Alesha's selection, I'm pretty sure most of the core audience of Strictly would have never heard of Mis-Teeq, before she went on Strictly. Miranda's "never been off the TV." She'd appeal to a wider audience than ever did Alesha, but I don't think it will be her.

Can't stand Miranda - not funny at all. If she did get the gig it could well be enough to make me switch off.
I'm not sure who should be the replacement judge, but please let them have some knowledge of the subject.

I love Miranda but as a judge no way. They would have to have some experience.

Agree with some of the previous posters, I love Miranda but it'd be a bit ridiculous to have her as a judge. I'd prefer someone with actual dance knowledge whose appointment would not cause any kind of scandal.

If the BBC are going to replace Alesha with another celeb, I wouldn't mind it being Miranda as a personality. Ideally though, yes, someone with dance expertise is much more preferable.

I wonder if the ITT connection could provide a clue here. Alesha was both an ex winner and a fan of the show prior to that, having been on ITT a fair few times in earlier series. So SCD viewers would have had a familiarity with her in that way, as well as taking part. Same with Miranda in ITT terms, besides anything else she has been on.

No reason at all for whoever replaces Alesha to have dance experience. After all what most of the contestants do is "perform" to a greater or lesser degree the routine they are given. Real B&L dancing disappeared a few years ago.

Miranda could be as good as any other celebrity. At least she cares about the program and watches avidly.

and in fairness to Miranda when she has been on ITT is not shy of expressing an opinion.

She has a lot bound up with her career with the BBC so they may well want her to judge the show and she may well want to do it of all the realistic names put forward I think she may well be a favourite of mine.

I also would not mind her presenting the show instead of Brucie and think that may well be the better fit.

No, no, no!!!! What does she know about dancing than the rest of us armchair judges. Not a lot!

Firstly the Mail just makes things up with no credible evidence.

Secondly, I find Miranda dull and irritating, and certainly nowhere near as humorous or endearing as the lovely Marion Keyes, whom I sincerely hope makes a return to ITT next year. She is a true fan of the show.

Marian is wonderful but so sick I can't see her doing much any time soon. She isn't even writing.

She was funny when Lilia was still on the show, referring to her as her daughter (I think).

Who? The Mail is considering the new judge?!

I had never said this before, I actually think if Miranda is on the judge I wouldn't watch anymore. But I think I'm in minority, a lot of people seem to like her here. I just find it very offensive that the only woman on the panel has to be clueless about the subject she's judging!

You can see it now

Len: The lines with the arms were really good
Miranda: Ooh he can put his arms around me any time!
Len: Good use of the lift there
Miranda: Ooh you couldnt do that lift without a few stretches!
Len: Yes but back to the dancing, he missed a few steps there
Miranda: Ooh I love his pink top!

I would reach into the tv and throttle her. She would be useless as a judge and just use the opportunity to crack puns

I love Miranda. But I thought Karen Hardy was a dead cert for this??

I guess there is a danger in prejudging and making assumptions here. However my initial reaction to this suggestion is that there is an inherent problem with having comediennes/comedians on these types of shows in that they tend to be more focussed on themselves and their need to be witty and amusing. That's not really the right thing for Strictly where the focus should be on the contestants. Miranda's act, in particular, is very much about her own experiences and emotions (as opposed to other comedians like Michael Mcintyre who are more observational and outward looking) and so I think she would be particularly inappropriate as a judge. (Whatever Alesha's faults were she never moved the focus from the competing celebs to herself. )

Sorry, Miranda's nice enough as a person, but I think she would be just about the worst choice for Strictly.

I think this could turn out good, Having someone on the panel that is a fan of the show and obviously has seen every ep (from what i think shes said) and would of seen the dances and known what was good, What was not good etc

From what I saw in the episode where she did the tango she looked pretty good (Not on the bad try but the one where she was imagining it)
