The Pro Cycling Thread
With a new season about to start i thought i would get a thread going which is exclusive to the fortunes of Team Sky.
What is the date and the team for the first race in Australia ? |

Starts Jan 17. There's an article about the team here, but it's from a few weeks ago. Certainly a couple of potential winners there.
http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/...uad-named.html Edvald Boasson Hagen (Norway) Alex Dowsett (Great Britain) Mathew Hayman (Australia) Danny Pate (USA) Michael Rogers (Australia) Christopher Sutton (Australia) Geraint Thomas (Great Britain) |

Strong team for the tour down under . Will the tour be shown on tv in the Uk?
I imagine GreenEdge will be the team to beat this year, what with it being their first proper race and in their own back yard. |

Great sprint by Griepel to win today, unstoppable. Good luck to Team Sky for the TDU. It's on Sky and also ITV but not checked the actual listings. Not always a great race but any cycling on TV is always good after the winter break |

I dont think it is on ITV?
As the other races are on at times when I cant really just stream the video like I did today, its gonna have to be cyclingtorrents for the rest of them. |

Steephill and Cyclingfans are listing it as on Sky and ITV. I presume the ITV coverage will be something like a Phil and Paul hour long highlights programme towards the end of the month. It will probably string together clips like these two this morning: http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/video/cyc...6-776e6654ffe8

EBH now has the sprint jersey after the main peloton split leaving Greipel behind. EBH has targeted tomorrow's stage going up the same hill twice:
http://www.tourdownunder.com.au/imag...12-profile.jpg http://www.youtube.com/user/tourdownunder?feature=watch Anyone expecting Valverde make his first impact on a race since his ban, or will Gerrans get the maiden win for GreenEdge? |

If you're a night owl there's live coverage of todays stage on Sky Sports 4...........preamble on now with Chris Boardman, race starts in twenty minutes or so
The whole stage live........about 5 hours they reckon I could stay up and watch it but it'll wreck tomorrow........

Their race calendar is on the website: http://www.teamsky.com/races/0,27631...0.html#month=2
The squads are listed under each race once selected. Cavendish is riding the middle east tours: Oman and Qatar with Eisel. He is also riding the first weekend in Europe at the KBK on 26 Feb without Eisel who rides the day before. Stannard and Flecha will ride that weekend hoping to repeat their previous success. Wiggins has only one race scheduled for February so far. |

I stayed up till about 3.30 AM on saturday night and must say i enjoyed Sky's coverage as well........although I guess the pictures etc were all coming from the Aussie broadcaster
I have heard Phil and Paul before because I sometimes watch ITV4 for the TdF etc if Eurosport is late starting, but I find their commentary style very dull It's almost like Phil reads out a sentence that he's got written down and Paul says 'Yes' and proceeds to read it again...... ![]() But the pictures were good and there weren't many ad breaks (not surprising as it was the middle of the night !) Apart from the stilted Phil and Paul commentary it was pretty good I don't know if Sky have got any plans to try and get more races. I suspect it's probably not high on their agenda as sponsoring the Sky team is presumably to bring in new customers and there's not much point showing their races to people who already have Sky |

Plenty opportunities to practice their team sprint tactics there then. Qatar makes Holland look like the Andes.
