I guess it will be a case of whoever feels the most up for it, depending on the conditions and form/fitness etc and then seeing what happens on the day? We have quite a few options but probably not the one we need to win. We have a very strong team but perhaps not the riders to ride focused on a certain person unless it comes down to a sprint. It would be nice to get somebody into the break so we at least have a choice of tactics, but if it's a strong one, just one guy will probably not be good enough to go the distance alone. If the break is weaker we may have a chance to try and reel it back, which should be unlikely, hopefully we don't rely on this though. Maybe if there's a bigger pack that go away we could try and get a few guys in there and then have somebody work hard for whoever our best option is for the sprint. I just don't see anybody in that mould who could outsprint a breakaway group, we'd need to control them somehow. All of our guys seem to be outmatched by other riders depending on what kind of finish we get, bar ofc Cav, who probably won't be contesting. What would be the best option for us here putting Cav to one side??

GB has won it's first medal at the World Championships......
Elinor Barker won the Gold medal in the Junior Women Time Trial.......with 35 seconds back to the 2nd and over a minute back to the 3rd Pretty big gaps on a 15K course ! The Elite Women TT is on now.........and eurosport are showing it ! Still don't know why they're not showing all the events like they used to.,...............

Hmmm, real shame we don't get to see all these events, would have loved to see Barker win earlier today.
Had a look later in the week and they don't appear to be showing the Junior or U23 road races either........... |

it's annoying because ES have shown every event in previous years and given that they've massively increased their cycling coverage this year with lots of new races............difficult to understand why they've decided to cut back their World championship coverage
Had a look later in the week and they don't appear to be showing the Junior or U23 road races either........... Are they being shown on other channels in other countries? Steephill usually post links to other European ES channels and they don't list anything today except the Elite Women's TT. Could it be something to do with UCI and not ES? |

How do we rate her chances? She has something to prove after being left out of the track team perhaps?

I have no idea, it doesn't seem to make any sense

Could it be something to do with UCI and not ES? Maybe they just hadn't signed a contract to show those junior races when they were a seperate event so don't have rights to show them until a new contract ? |

Podium Cafe say this:
The kids take center stage today with the TT for junior men at 10:00 CEST and the U23 men at 14:00 CEST. We are unlikely to get any live coverage from these races for reasons passing understanding.

Looks like it could be a top 10 for Wendy then, she's finished and is currently in 4th.

So Emma has some work to do now. 16 secs off Stevens split who has just gone into the hotseat. Arndt also had 6 seconds on Emma.

This has to be a fast climb, sitting in 4th place atm. Hopefully the others went out hard and haven't got the legs for the cauberg like Emma might.

Is Saturday the last we see of Pooley before her year out?
Contador is second favourite to Martin in tomorrow's timetrial. Looking at the lumpy route I would have thought the edge was with the Spaniard. |

The top two rode impressively. Emma Pooley's result was disappointing. I'm glad Wendy did so badly, because she has a bad attitude.

Article about Wendy coming back to the team/and a bit about Emma....
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/oth...pionships.html Pooley has spoken of possibly taking a break from cycling to complete her PhD, while the future for Houvenaghel also remains uncertain. She plans to spend some time with her family after the World Championships and will assess whether the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 are an option. It is understood the women's team pursuit may be increased to become an event over 4km with four riders. _______________________________ 2500 posts. Thread was started on 5/1/12
