If i remember right Hushovd won green a few years ago without winning a stage ( might of won 1 ?) whilst Cav had his usual big haul.”
It could be quite a battle but Sagan's not in Cav's class as a sprinter. It would be great to see the green jersey rewarded to the best sprinter - so hopefully the points will be skewed heavily on stage finishes not intermediate sprints.

The intermediate sprints (and climbs) points annoy me too.
I'd love the Green jersey to be more a sprinters jersey than a points jersey. But I'm not against riders being rewarded for being able to win the tough stages, as well as the bunch sprints. I just wish the intermediate points weren't so decisive.
My annoyance isn't just about the green jersey - It grates when the King of the Mountains can be won on the smaller intermediate climbs and not the major Alpine & Pyrenees climbs.
But the organisers have to give the rest of the peleton some carrots of glory to chase I guess. The tour can't be just about the main GC contenders.
