Sagan came in 39th.........not sure if he'll be happy with that the form he's been in this year

Froome and EBH have done good times
swingaleg

Yeah, the guys reckon he probably lost 3 seconds with that slip..........

Schlek was poor, the one thing you can't do in the first week of the TdF is give away cheap seconds, and he's just done that.

Wiggins leads

Pretty good for Brad, I reckon. A handy lead against most of the big guys, without the pressure of being in yellow.

First Fab............2nd Wiggo

Wiggo will be pleased with that as he's taken seconds from all the contenders

Cancellara wins by a country mile as expected.

Bradley makes some early time up on his rivals.

Yes they all start tomorrow unless injured, ill or just knackered, which is unlikely after a 6K time trial.........

Yes, all of them in a bunch instead of individually.

First day couldn't have gone any better for Wiggins.

Interesting to see the attention to detail: Cancellara's and Evan's numbers were just pinned on their backs and ridged up. Wiggin's number was right down on his butt (sitting on the sponsor's name) and stuck flush to the fabric. I bet Sky weighed the glue.

Schleck lost 5sec/km that theoretically scales up to 8mins45secs over the ITTs to be recovered in the mountains. Andy's awesome break last year only gained 2mins15secs.

They all start together, but their times are recorded on the general classification.

So Cancellara did 7 minutes 13" today, and if the entire bunch finishes in 5 hours tomorrow, his time will be 5 hours 7'13" and he'll still be in the lead as long as the bunch all finishes together.

Hey tso.........feel free to ask any questions !

Tomorrow is a road race.........they all start off together at the same time in a big bunch and the one who passes the winning line first is the winner

Then the times for the riders tomorrow are added to todays times and the one with the lowest combined time is the race leader (yellow jersey)

Same happens with every race every day..........at the end of each day that days times are added to the running totals

The guy with the lowest time after all the stages is the winner

One thing to note though, tso..........is that if a bunch of riders finish together in a road race they all get given the same time

Another new one here, how do all of the different jersey's get decided?

Many thanks for any answers/help that may be forthcoming.

... and if any riders crash or have a mechanical problem in the last 3km of a stage they are given the same time as the group they were racing in (provided they eventually cross the finish line).
