General:

1. Martin
2. Rodriquez +10
3. Quintana +32
4. Wiggins +36
5. Scarponi +39

Think Rodriguez will take this now in Montjuic, heroic performance from Martin however.

Andy Schleck paced at 6 secs/km slower to Tejay Van Garderen and Chris Froome in this afternoon's short Criterium International Stage 2 ITT.

Decision on whether to run tomorrow's Gent-Wevelgem due this afternoon - not on TV, even if it goes ahead.

In Spain, big sprint surge from nowhere for the stage win by Gerrans!

VC final stage tomorrow ending with eight laps through the Olympic park on the 3rd cat. Montjuïc hill, Barcelona. A sprint on every lap: http://www.grassyknolltv.com/2013/vo...profile-07.jpg

Gaps, in seconds are:
00 - Dan Martin (Garmin)
17 - Rodriguez (Katusha)
45 - Quintana (Movistar)
54 - Wiggins (Sky)
55 - Scarponi (Lampre)
67 - Gesink (Blanco)
Rodriguez to repeat his 2010 win?

Criterium International: Porte won ITT by a second and takes race lead on stage 2 of 3.

Dan Martin has done really well to take 7 seconds in various bonuses since gaining the jersey

Isn't it likely that there'll be a breakaway mopping up the bonuses until we get to the final lap ?
cmq2
23-03-2013
Movistar, Sky and especially Katusha may keep close tabs on the break so they can take some points on the latter laps. Rodriguez has said it was a tall order but his team will be fighting for the overall. Time bonuses: sprint 3sec per lap and finish line 10sec?

Sky and the others will just sit there and wait for Katusha to chase everything down...............that's the problem with being 2nd on GC and announcing that they're going to try and win

Katusha will have to chase down every break..............

A battle for 1st and 2nd plus a separate battle for 3rd. I guess Movistar want the break to succeed to protect Quintana as long as possible with Blanco, Lampre and Sky wanting to take advantage of the bonuses. Wiggins and Martin have both lived and trained in Girona but I doubt they know the normally busy Barcelona roads well.

Two races on at the same time this afternoon on ES1 & 2. The shortened un-televised Gent-Wevelgem is underway but weather is dodgy and constantly being reassessed. The gritters were out in the early hours. If ice forms in the gusty Siberian wind, and causes a crash, the race will be terminated.

Seems strange that they showed a one day race a couple of days ago, the E3, that they constantly referred to as a prep race for Gent-Wevelgem.............then don't show the real thing

It's like showing the FA Cup semi-finals then not bothering to show the Final...............

ES do not seem to go in for competing for exclusive rights in territories, so lose out. Possibly viewable live on Sporza website.

Highlights on SS4 tomorrow. Not got SkySports - no way I can avoid the result while tracking today's races, anyway: http://www.itv.com/tvguide/search/?t...hrase=wevelgem

GW pack splintered early on with Sky and Omega Pharma well represented in lead group:http://live.cyclingnews.com/

Boonen's fall (no spoilers on GW outcome): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qUyJg-fxtg

The shortened race completed without further weather disruption.

Definitive one-two from Sky in Criterium International. Presager for the upcoming grand tours? Highlights on ES and ITV4 tonight.

What were the group playing at allowing Sagan to get away with 4km to go?

Why must Sky insist on showing highlights so late at night?

Also - why have ITV only today shown the highlights from Paris-Nice? Absolutely pointless considering it finished 2 weeks ago.

And why was it so hard to find the Paris Niece highlights on the ITV website after viewers were told they could go there to watch them again after the Criterium International highlights? Were the highlights highlights of the entire race or just one stage? and why not show them beore or after the other cycling highlights?

Chris froome's attack meant the outcome of the CI wasn't in doubt. That's the most comfortable win I've watched so far this year.

And the pack was cutting the lead away from a steady 80-90 seconds down to 30. As Sagan set off in a headwind, the gap reopened to 55secs within a couple of kilometres.

Like MSR, the pack seemed to have too many teams to organise the catch despite having several sprinters within their group. Cavendish looked frustrated at 30km at the lack of effort.

They are helpfully filed as Cycling Highlights - one hour on the all P-N stages: https://www.itv.com/itvplayer/cycling-highlights

Brilliant finish by Cav today after his team took it up too early and rode themselves into the ground a few hundred metres short of the finish...........Cav latched on to the pack swamping them on either side and came round the leaders to win.............

Shame if Catalunya goes..............I like those Spanish regional races

Great TV pictures for a smaller race. Terpstra did a massive turn, even if it was a little too far out. Greipel struggled in the sprint or did he just drop out when he realised he had drifted too far over?

Next week's Tour of the Basque Country has a very bumpy profiles that provides open racing.

Just a reminder that there's live cycling on ES2 this morning with the road stage of day 3 of 'Three days of Panne' scheduled for 9.30

This afternoons time trial stage is on ES1 at 1.45

Sprinter course this morning, chance for Cav to get his 100th win ?

Sagan has abandonned before the start of stage 3

After winning stage one it looked like there was something wrong with him on stage two as he was in a group that dropped off the back of the peloton and couldn't get back on even though it was a flat stage.............wasn't clear why he dropped off the back
