Uran has attacked................and got quite a sizeable lead

Nibali won't be concerned, surprised the other teams (Lampre, Vini Fantini) are doing nothing.

Intxausti, AG2R and Kiserlovski go, Wiggins and Gesink dropping.

Nibali group contains: Pozzovivo, Betancur, Evans, Santambrogio, Kiserlovski and Majka

Who predicted that , no one.

Wiggo's crawling his way back...............about 23 seconds down on Nibali

Uran wins the stage !

Wiggo is losing time on the GC contenders................over 30 seconds

Bit of a poser now............do they start riding for Uran ?

Quick mental arithmetic..............I think uran has overtaken Wiggo

That 1'16" Uran lost nursing Wiggins downhill in the wet is starting to look a bit costly.

Wiggins doesn't have it, not what was expected of him at all really. 2 horse race now I think:

1. Nibali
2. Evans +41
3. Uran +2:04
4. Wiggins +2:05
5. Gesink +2:12
6. Scarponi +2:13
7. Santambrogio +2:55
8. Niemiec +3:55
9. Pozzovivo +4:17
10. Majka +4:21

One Horse race.... Nibali looks in great shape.... Evans doing a lot better then i, and many expected, but i think he will burn out later in the Giro...

As for Wiggins.... First time in a while I've seen him pulling faces like that, and i can't see him getting better, just worse!

Sky should put all it's efforts into getting Uran onto the podium in Brescia

Wiggo still there or there abouts, and Sky have got the advantage now that Uran is a bit of a wildcard.

Certainly would race for both Uran and Wiggins now.

Doesn't seem likely that Wiggins will win this but shown plenty of determination today.

I do think Nibali will win now, Evans can't be ruled out though only 41 seconds back. Much stranger things have happened in cycling, especially as Astana are going to have to defend the Maglia Rosa for quite a while. I'd be surprised if Aru, Agnoli and Kangert can keep that up for 11 stages.

If Wiggins or Uran were a bit closer to Nibali, i think they could have given him a hard time.... Nibali's Astana team mates seemed to evaporate pretty quickly when Sky turned up the heat.

Nibali must be happy that Wiggins is out of sorts, and that Sky put all their eggs in the Wiggins basket.... Uran looked very strong today. With Sky working for him.... Well, it could have been 'very' interesting.

I still don't fancy Evans... The man is a lion, but i just can't see it happening myself.

It is hard to keep up with all the cycling especially with Eurosport and Sky messing around with the timings.

On good thing about ITV covering a stage race the highlights were always on at 7pm.

Tomorrow Sky's highlights are prone to being moved due to live Tennis which is also on Eurosport - Thurday Giro highlights not on till 11:30pm - do Sky really care about cycling? And the Tour of California? Highlights from the previous night not on tomorrow night.

It is amateur night with this hit and miss scheduling. Well for people without a Tivo type arrangement.

On the road Wiggins showed he will struggle in the high mountains. He ride a pace but cannot explode or ride away. I think Sky has it right with Froome for the Tour.

And what about Schleck in California? Bad form for the Tour.

So, since it's so quiet on the thread this week, who do we like for the Tour of Norway?

The thread does seem to have gone quiet since the heady days of last summer.................even so, I'm surprised we haven't been 'Part 2-ed' yet..................

Tour of Norway...............there are 5 ProTour teams including Sky

Boassen-Hagan seems a god bet

Giro underway on ES............there's a big breakaway group of about 20 riders. They've got about 5 minutes

One rider not started today........from AG2R - Sylvan George ? - the rumour is that he failed a drugs test

They're on a long cat 2 climb of 30k at the moment

One rider down today. Sylvain Georges, who rides for the AG2R team, just tested positive for a banned substance. Booted from the Giro.

Lucky they are riding on such wide roads - Sagan would never have got last night's win on a European finish, but on American roads there is no such thing as boxed in.

Sorry... Google translator.

Quote:
“Sylvain Georges made a "erreur idiote"Which led to he tested positive for a banned substance during the Giro, Said Wednesday the director of the team, AG2R, Vincent Lavenu. A urine sample taken after the tenth stage of the Giro d'Italia has revealed the presence of stimulating Heptaminol, said the International Cycling Union (UCI) said in a statement. "I had a few minutes ago on the phone. He used a product he thought harmless because he had heavy legs"Said Vincent Lavenu Reuters by telephone. "There is no willingness to doping. This is a silly mistake that hurts. The consequences are obviously dire compared to the initial fact"Said Vincent Lavenu, whose team is a member of"Movement for a credible cycling».”

Just about about caught up with the Giro and the Tour of California (Stage 3) where Sagan won. One was a great breakaway the other Sagan's ability to sprint.

I guess like me some people are having to avoid this thread until we have caught up with the highlights. Tonight's Tour of California and the Giro tomorrow night for me. Taping the TofC so can start it early. Sky promise that the Giro highlights will start 9:30pm so here's hoping.

Tour of Norway one Tour too many timewise, sadly.
