I was agog at three things. Three days on Corsica which looks to have spectacular scenery, two climbs of l'Alpe d'Huez which should almost kill everyone and then on the final day a loop around l'Arc de Triomphe instead of just turning before it at the top of the Champs-Élysées!

Is it actually going to be dark in Paris for that stage? I was assuming it was still light like here.

Does anyone know who this is (and also the year/stage) who goes flying over the barrier at 1m34s?

It looked like a 'Telecom' jersey, Jan Ulrich's team, but I don't recognise the rider

Thanks. I only started watching a few years ago so hadn't see that before.

Results of the British National Champs here - I'll not say anything more in case some of you want to watch it on ITV4 tonight. It looks like the decision to hold the races in the centre of Glasgow rather than the usual rustic setting really paid off, though - huge crowds. This will be the Commonwealth Games course.

Interesting profile of Chris Froome here, explaining just how he seemingly rose from nowhere.

Rabobank / Blanco's new sponsor announced - Belkin electronics, makers of routers, modems etc. Colours are lime green and black.

Who's the other team that's lost their sponsor? I can't recall.

Just watched the highlights of the nationals..............

Well done to Cav and Lizzie

Strange innit !..............they show the race result with the first 6 finishers and you've heard of them all, even the women !

Should be two cracking races when the Commonwealths roll around, very difficult for anyone to organise a pursuit on that course, so it will really be the strong riders who profit.

There's usually a few every year........there's quite a big turnaround in sponsors (and therefore team names)

Rabobank went on for years but that was unusual. I remember Kelme went on for years, but I reckon the average sponsorship is probably about 3 or 4 years ?

I think it might be Vaconsoleil or however you spell it that are ending theirs at the end of the year. That's what I was thinking of.

Good to see the highlights but wish they'd show more live racing. There's more to the sport than the big tours.

Didn't expect to see Trott, King, Rowsell in 2nd 3rd 4th after over 3 hours of racing. somewhat different to a few quick laps around the velodrome. Nice to see Armitstead doing well with the win. Looking forward to more womens road racing, if we get any tv coverage. Hopefully having so many Olympic heroines doing well will raise the profile closer to where it deserves to be.

Cav was awesome in the men's race. Sky dominant as expected. Nice warm up for the big one.

Further to post #3194 with Bäckstedt's views, ITV have uploaded brief video stage summaries: http://www.itv.com/tourdefrance/stages/

Unfortunately those ITV stage routes are very low-res. There are some nice ones on YouTube which show the terrain a lot better.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoV8fw8P59I for stage 1 by "Cycling The Alps".

And I don't think I've heard Ajaccio pronounced the same twice yet!

For that level of detail, I prefer to download the stage routes for Google Earth to track at my pace: http://www.velowire.com/article/762/...r-details.html (bottom of page)

Yes. I did think the YouTube videos whizzed by too quickly which blurred all the detail.
