It was his first ever tour stage win so I'm guessing that was his first time trial win too.

You would be wrong.

he won the short Stage 1 TT at the 2010 Giro, are you getting confused with that?

Reminder that the Tour of Poland starts today..........it's a 7 day race

It's a World Tour event..........the top rank.........but it appears to have a problem finding a regular slot in the calendar

It always used to be on at the same time as the Tour of Spain and now it's on at the same time as the Tour de France..........which obviously isn't ideal

They appear to be trying to mitiogate the clash by starting racing later in the day so that they can get an hour or so of TV coverage once the Tour de France stage has finished..........and that's what Eurosport are doing......going over to the Polish race for an hour or so

Remy di Gregorio has been sacked by Cofidis after he was arrested earlier today in relation to a doping investigation. To do with his time at Astana, so Cofidis are carrying on in the Tour.

My mistake I thought he was second to Vinokourov during a time trail before Vino got caught.

He's riding the Tour of Poland for Green Edge

First 'Hors Categorie' climb on Wednesday..........the Col du Grand Colombier

Stage 10 - Macon to Bellegarde -sur-Valserine

194K...........as well as the big climb there's also quite a long category 2 and a category 3 chucked in near the finish

Lots of descending from the top of the Colombier

Still in the Jura Mountains

The Tour has never been over the Colombier before but some riders will know it as it's featured in other races including this year's Dauphiné.

Like you I prefer lots of mountains and mountain top finishes but you wouldn't want it to be the same race every year !”

Remember next year is the 100th edition so I expect they will be keen to include a number of the iconic climbs. It wouldn't surprise me if they even include a mountain ITT... its been a while - 2004 up Alpe d'Huez?

It's about time they went back to Mont Ventoux, doesnt feature enough for my liking.

Pantani and Amrstrong going up there in 2000 (?) was epic.

(just checked and it appeared in the TdF in 2009, dont remember it being that recent!)

Pictures are in on Eurosport

108K to go........there's a breakaway nearly 7 minutes up the road, including 2 of Cadel's team-mates. Have they got a cunning plan ?

Breakaway is on the first climb

Some of the men in the breakaway - Voeckler, Millar, Gerrens, Sanchez, Popovych, Sagan, Voight, Zabriskie, casar, Goss

there's 25 in all, so it's a big group

Do you know if any of the group are still in with much of a shout in the General Classification, or are they all well down on time?

Edit. Found it - Scarponi is the highest placed of the group, before today he was 10 minutes down

Edit again - thanks, Swingaleg, now seen your response. I'm now following it on the Cycling News website.

Scarponi is the highest placed but he's over 10 minutes down

If anyone high up on GC had tried to get away Sky would have chased them down !...........

Highest placed is 10 minutes down I think. (EDIT - what he said^^)

Only reason I can think that Sagan is there is to take all the 20 sprint points at the intermediate sprint today, cant see why he is busting a gut for them seeing he has a comfortable lead in that competition.

Yes, I was wondering whether we could expect a concerted attack or not, from Sky.

On the way down from the Cat 2 climb now........the intermediate sprint is in the vally at the bottom of this descent

Harmon just reminds us that as it's not a mountain top finish there are sprint points available at the stage finish

Maybe Sagan is going to take the intermediate and hope he can stay away in the break over the big climb

There are still 40K to go off the top of the Grand Colombier so even is he loses places going up he might get back to the leaders on the way down

Cant see him being in the top 20 (?) for the points come the end.

I don't think Sky will attack...........they've got control, it's up to Evans and Nibali and Menchov to attack them if they can

I reckon Sky will just set a pace and mark the other contenders whilst going fast enough to drop most of the riders off the back

That 40K off the top of the big climb might dissuade the contenders from killing themselves to attack on the way up as Sky could probably get back on the way down

If they were finishing at the top of the mountain it would be a whole different ball game !

All 8 Sky riders in a line on the front of the peloton

Cav's doing a turn !

I could see some of the break staying away........there's no one dangerous on GC so Sky don't have to chase them down

Oh...........Sagan could only finish 3rd in the race for the intermediate sprint points

Goss won it
swingaleg

Breakaway just coming to the Grand Colombier

It's the first 'Hors category' climb of the tour..........17.4 Kilometres and pretty steep, some double figure percentages along the way

Peloton goes through the sprint point with the Lotto team having taken up the pace making

Sagan is already slipping off the back of the breakaway group after a kilometre or so of the climb............
swingaleg

The original breakaway has now blown apart as 5 men go off the front and the others can't go with them

Scarponi, Voeckler, sanchez, Peraud are 4 of the 5

Is this Sagan's first 3 week tour? If so, it's not surprising he is trying to bank as many insurance points as possible.
