Thanks to Roberto Ferrari doing some mid-sprint kung fu

Don't think he'll be on Cav's christmas card list this year... or Phinney's.

Edit: just watched replay, flipping shocking manoeuvre! You can't be changing your line like that at 40mph+

best view of it about 3:45

Also, props to the guy in yellow bunny hopping a prostrate Cav.

Never really been convinced by Goss, to be honest. He's great in a small group, but I can't remember him ever winning a full bunch sprint.
His first big tour win, according to the BBC.

It's a bit ridiculous but it's a rest day today in the Giro

Still live cycling on ES though as they're showing today's stage of the '4 days of Dunkirk' - live coverage scheduled for 2.30, currently highlights of yesterdays stage are on now

But there is tennis lurking so who knows.............

Shocking outcome. Looks like a leg of ham:

Back to normal for Cav today, textbook leadout from the team, went a bit earlier than usual, Goss couldn't get off his wheel.

Good seeing Cavendish win.

Checking out the coverage for the weekend - only time I can see it live - and see the Italians don't start live coverage until late in the stage according to the official site's profile. Will Eurosport be able to show it any earlier?

Also will the French Open Tennis mean the last week of the Giro is forgotten about as usual?

The weekends are normally a bit tricky but according to the Radio Times we have 3 hours scheduled on saturday and on sunday, starting 1.30 pm both days !

Now they have 2 channels we usually get proper coverage of the Giro during the French tennis..........unlike a few years ago when they basically stopped showing it after two weeks !

Eurosport have really beefed up their cycling coverage this year with lots of new races that they either haven't shown before or haven't shown for a few years..........I don't think we can complain too much at the moment !

Good to see the leadout in working order for Cav today. Also the Tour of California starts Sunday night. Always a contrast to the Giro (the roads tend to be wider). Plus it is an opportunity to admire the Jelly Belly kit.

And Robbie McEwen's last ever race.

Good wedge of Giro today.............joined the race with over 100 K to go

Uphill finish as well..............no distractions in the form of football or big races or cricket...........should be a good days viewing.

Currently 84k to go and the breakaway has an 8 minute lead

Cav on the deck again in a sprint finish today

Goss down as well.................

I think Cav was OK, I think I saw him getting up fairly quickly and riding on to the finish line

No idea what Pippo was doing there!

At least he's had the good grace to apologise. Unlike Ferrari.

So the Italians have found a way to stop Cavendish and have taken the spirit of the Italian football defenders to heart.

Not really sure why everyone is blaming Pozzato or expecting him to apologise. If Goss hadn't also got that corner wrong, he wouldn't have swung wide and Pozzato wouldn't have crashed. Neither of them need to say sorry, it was just a racing incident... but I guess it's easier to blame the guy in the bright yellow flouro kit that stands out from 5 miles away

You mean the guy that has, actually, apologised?

To defend my statement it is actually a joke. Especially if you are a football fan and remember the old school of Italian defending.

Well Pozzato apologised for bringing down the others, but not for causing the crash (says Goss caused it):

But really... mountain, molehill.

I'll save you the trouble... Sagan wins! Probably.
