They're coming past my house tomorrow. I'd have lent Bradley my bog, if he needed it.

Don't see why they can't put the time trials on BBC2. So much for post olympic legacy!

When it says delayed coverage on freeview does this mean that it will be live on freeview aswell?

Been underway on ITV4 for a little while now.............

Six man breakaway has over 4 minutes and it's still increasing

63K to go

Old Magnus Backstedt is in the break and he's the highest on GC of the six men but he's about 9 minutes down

I assume Magnus is a coach with the Young GB squad......shouldn't he be riding in the peloton with his young lads to be teaching them peloton riding rather than shooting off up the road in a break............I wonder if he's coming out of retirement to prove a point to his lads .............bragging rights ?. I can still do it...........where were you lot ?

It's not a youth team or a GB development team, it's just a normal team sponsored by the charity UK Youth. It's a bit confusing, but I had to google it to find out what it was about, so I guess that is objective achieved as far as the charity is concerned.

Nigel Mansell is the boss.

all change since i was typing that and flicked over to watch a race at Donny

a group of about a dozen has come off the front of the peloton including the first 4 on GC and they're closing in on the original breakaway group...............

What channel do they mean on freeview re. the Worlds?

Is it surprising that Froome is contesting the Worlds after the Vuelta and his long season or not really?

I don't know about Freeview

To be honest the GB team for the World road race looks a bit like fulfilling an obligation to ride rather than going in with any serious thought of competing..........hope I'm wrong but
Cav, Wiggo and Froome all look like they've had enough for the season........I can't see that they're going to do anything other than toodle around in the pack

Cummings might do best of the GB riders...........

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised either after the season they've had, as you say!

Uh-oh - looks like the stomach sickness is spreading. Christian Knees feeling a bit dodgy today too according to Sky's race report:

Quote:
““The team rode well but unfortunately Christian was having stomach problems during the day which held him back a bit. We lost Brad this morning with the same issue.

“In the race the guys were really motivated and we tried something in the cross-winds. Christian didn’t quite have the legs to get across. He nearly made it into what was a strong group on the road so we were forced to chase it.””

Yes, he is the team manager. But what is interesting is that he is now listed as being British!

Well, just watched the stage today and thought it was a cracking race by any standards. Great to see the young Brits doing so well.

Great race today, and a great ride by Jon Tiernan-Locke. One downside: not impressed by König at all. Didn't do a lick of work on the climbs, just sat back and had Jon do all the work, and then celebrated like a triumphant king across the line. The prat.

Konig rode a perfect race.............he knew JT-L would do the work to get the leaders jersey so he saved himself for the finish............that's good tactics !

By the way, I'd never heard of jT-L until today...........but I see he's made the GB team for the Worlds

Surely he must be on his way to a World Tour team ?

Apparently he showed promise but his career was temporarily set back by the Epstein-Barr virus. Good to see things are working out for him now.

From Wikipedia:

Quote:
“Tiernan-Locke started racing mountain bikes at the age of 15 before taking up road racing in 2003 when he was 18.[2] He progressed rapidly from 4th Category to 1st Category in a matter of months and for 2004 was offered the chance to ride for the French Amateur team U.V. Aube. Within 18 months he was selected for the British U-23 National team and joined the French team CC Étupes for 2005. His impact was immediate, with a win in GP de Rocheville, and podiums on all ten of his first ten races.

Just a few months later his health deteriorated and he was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr virus. Forced to stop racing altogether the next three years were spent studying for a degree in product design at the University of the West of England, but did not graduate. After recovering his health he started racing again in 2008 but his season was once more disrupted after he was knocked off his bike by a horse while training. In 2009 he finally got the chance to return to the pro ranks with the Plowman Craven-Madison, but once again misfortune struck as the team folded mid season and Jonathan returned to working in a bike shop. [3]

In 2010 he was offered the opportunity to ride for the Rapha Condor-Sharp sharp team. He won the King of the Mountains competition and finished fifth in the general classification in the 2011 Tour of Britain.”

Right, we're underway now. If all goes correctly, Jon Tiernan-Locke should be in control today. Some brutal climbs over Dartmoor (the hill they're going up from Dartmeet is so long and steep that I don't even like going DOWN it in the car). Tiernan-Locke is also a local lad and the coast road that runs from Kingsbridge to Dartmouth, which forms the last 30km or so, is a road that he regularly trains on, which should be to his advantage. Interesting finish to this stage, as there's a very steep, long and straight descent into Dartmouth, followed by a 90 degree turn onto the riverfront with a sprint to finish.

Gap between the breakaway and peloton down to 3.45. Endura Racing's Jon Tiernan-Locke and Ian Bibby sat comfortably on the front of the peloton. I daresay that the gruelling ride over Dartmoor will reel in the breakaway.
