Why so aggressive? I'm poking fun at myself as well as the line-up.

I will watch and no doubt enjoy the show, as I like the skating and Jayne and Chris.

I don't care that I've not heard of the people who are in it. I was just making a point that they're hardly celebrities. In fact, for me it's like watching members of the public who want to have a go! Might be a good idea to have a show like that and give some ordinary Joe types the chance!

I'll volunteer as long as I can be partnered with Andrei
I can't skate at all but him carrying me around the ice is even better

I hate most of these 'reality' shows and don't watch soaps apart from Neighbours, but I still know most of the competitors this year. I certainly don't think its a line-up for the under-25s either; how many of them will know who Rosemary Conley or Chesney Hawkes are, or have even heard of Dallas?

By contrast, you've got current soap stars - i.e. some of the most watched people on TV right now - plus the likes of Jennifer Ellison, who has done a bit of everything (TV, theatre, modelling) and Heidi Range who is in one of the most successful pop groups of the last decade. These people are hardly Z listers and all have a valid claim to fame!

I think it can be good to not know who all the celebrities are in a way. I didn't know a lot of last years contestants so I had no pre-conceived ideas of what they would be like as skaters or people. As a result I just took to people (or decided I wasn't keen) based on a mixture of skating ability and partnerships. Most of those I did know were out in the early stages anyway!
This year again I know about three of the contenders but it won't spoil my enjoyment not knowing them and I'll form opinions in the same way as last year. So far the only person who I've ended up with a pre-conceived idea about is Jorgie and that is from the stories that are appearing on this site in the news section (). She strikes me as silly and immature from these but I might find I change my mind once I see her on the show.

I tend not to know a lot of the line-ups on this show (or SCD) because I don't watch any soaps (unless Holby City and Casualty count ) nor do I follow much sport or pop music/celebrity culture. Although sometimes I will know people by face/have at least heard the name even if I don't watch whatever soap they are in/listen to their music/follow their sport. This year I would agree that the line-up seems to be made of people who have a claim to fame even if I personally don't recognise them. Last year had some contestants with a spurious connection to celebrity.

I'm not expecting seriously big names on these shows either as I realise they wouldn't have the time to devote to training (or even the inclination to learn whichever skill it is depending on the show). Instead I've learned about people who I've not previously heard of and have later recognised if they have appeared elsewhere.

“My usual gripe is that the show is soap heavy, and I would't have known all of the soap actors before now, but that doesn't mean they aren't famous. I've heard of the shows they do, and know that they are watched, and recognised by millions.”

I agree, and being soap stars, whichever competition they are in, they seem to be more popular than other contestants who are often better than them at whatever they are doing.

No agressionintended on my part - was just trying to get to the bottom of your issues with the line up & thought an alternative line up/list of people might be a good place to start. Seems it came across differently online & also your humour didn't come across either.

How is being blonde "tacky". What a tool you must be. The show wasn't cast like that*, how the hell would you go about that? Seriously. Get a grip before you let people suffer your verbal nonsense.

Consider yourself slapped down again, which I imagine is the only reason you wrote this nonsense, twit.

How is it aimed at a youth audience I'm 31 and know most of them only ones I didn't really know were Chemmy and Sebastien and Andy Akinwolere

I vaguely knew of Charlene and everyone else I know of. I think there is a wide spectrum of contestants this year and had Keith Chegwin not been injured that would have been another well known contestant. Rosemary Conley is hardly aimed at the youth market and certainly I wouldn't say Charlene or Laila are either. Corey Feldman is probably aimed at my generation or those a bit older than me.

Laineythenomad why exactly are you watching this show? as you seem to have nothing but contempt for it, what is your issue with blondes exactly and no I am not one but you seem to have serious issues with them and guess you are going have issues with Heidi and Jennifer as you singled out Liverpool for your accent issues. People have accents it doesn't affect skating ability so it shouldn't be an issue with regards to the casting of the show.

Now my son's 15, and not a Dancing on Ice fan, but I reckon he'll be making a point of watching Sebastian Foucan! (he's one of the founders of street-running or 'parkour')

(I'll ask him later if he knows who anyone else is)

I know most of them, thought it was a really good line-up actually.

ITV would have done better not to put out the ridiculous rumours that Beckham might be doing the show - it makes the resultant pile of human waste even more smelly (if thats possible)

I'm 15 and I've heard of all of the above although I don't particularly agree that it's aimed at a younger audience as my 60 year old grandmother has heard of all of them bar 2.

Obviously either not as well known, or not as popular as expected now he's gone home already.

I know more of them this year than last year, that's for sure. But I think, unlike SCD, a lot more celebs are put off taking part because of the danger factor. You're much more likely to come away with a bad injury doing DOI than you are on SCD or other shows.

Like others have said, at least the majority of the contestants on DOI are famous for actually doing something/having a talent - not just the 'famous for being famous or not even famous to begin with' types you get on CBB! Have you seen that line up? How the majority of them are even classed as celebrities in the first place baffles me!
