Some people are pragmatic enough and dignified enough to know when it's time to leave the party, while others snare a footballer and make drastic changes to their appearance in a misguided attempt to be Posh.

Back to the lovely Alex, I don't know what the fuss is about, he always said he'd give it a go and if nothing came of his moment in the spotlight then at least he would know he had tried. I see no shame in him being honest about that

That's true EF Alex gave it his best shot. He now has a steady job. No point in pushing for a job in the media, when it isn't going to come, unlike some exbb3er's who don't know when to give up and get a job say at an IT desk or something

Btw, some gorgeous pics of Alex on his site from the fundraising event. Alex still breathtakingly gorgeous

So where did it all go wrong?

Alex had virtually everything going for him when he left the BB house (3rd behind Jonny and Kate), he had the looks, personality and a huge following. (I still believe his squeaky voice is an asset to him, it makes everyone immediately start smiling)

In my view what doomed him was poor career decisions and a sycophantic fan base that has lead to the appalling situation his is in now.

As an example lets look at the very first decision Alex's advisors made him do.. "simulating urinating into a shower for a TV ad". It was horrible to watch gorgeous Alex deeming himself so much to do this, true fans (like myself) were drowned out by other "fans" telling Alex how marvelous and funny it was. Yes! so bloody funny no one in the media would touch Alex "wee boy" Sibley with a bargepole from that moment onwards.

One can only imagine poor Alex crying himself to sleep each night as his arch rival career went from strength to strength, what must have been going through that lads mind? No wonder he was coming up with things like "what am I doing here?" when strangers approached him.

I hope and pray that at least Alex is (despite the odds) happy at last, please can we all agree on that!

I'm sorry if I have come across as angry, but I angry that due to no fault of his own he has let his family down, his friends down and (sad to say) himself down.

Alex I know it looks like you have failed and are at rock bottom, but at least you have your dignity (unlike KATE!!!!!)

Hi DD, not seen you for ages I can see why you feel frustrated for him but sorry, what 'appauling situation'? He has a steady job which he enjoys and is also getting further education in, he still attends the odd do when he wants to, still does the charity fundraising he has always done (although not bragged about), he has earnt enough to provide himself with a nice security cushion and a good investment, he hasn't let his family, friends, fans or himself down as you suggest and he is happy and still settled with Mel. If that is failure in your eyes it doesn't sound so bad to me

A decent job! He's a Housing Officer! What on earth does a Housing Officer do?

It sounds like one of those of jobs they make up on Labour Councils, to use up the budget, or someone's dad pulling strings to get their son off the streets and into regular employment.

During Alex's time in the house he said that just by having TV exposure on his CV would guarantee him almost unlimited work in Japan. Whatever happened to that?

I'm trying really hard but finding it difficult not to gloat about how right I was when I said that Alex's modelling career was practically over before he went into the house.

Very probably. I'm just glad he won't be back on screen or in print ever. I believe that he was a BB5 correspondent for one of the tabloids and couldn't resist using his articles as an excuse to slag off some of his BB3 HMs (e.g. Kate, Alison) a full two years after the event. Sad man.

Now if only he could have a word in Jade's shell-like ear about "retiring from public life"....

Don't be confused or embarrassed Bystander, that you don't know what some of these jobs are, although I always thought you so savvy in most matters, but I was wrong I will do you a favour and find out all I can for you on this job

I think you will find that was when Alex was thinking about moving abroad, but since changed his mind  anyway how do you know he wasn't offered loads of modelling work but had to turn it down, because of his TV commitments at the time

An Alex apologist meandering down a blind alley of pure speculation.

He wasn't slagging them off! He was just telling the truth in his usual witty fashion.

And most amusing it was.

What makes you think "he wont be back on screen or print ever"?

Alex was actually this years BB correspondant for the Star magazine, which was the "Official BB5 Magazine"..his writng was humourous and honest as ever.

Alex has chosen to take himself out of the immediate limelight and enjoy some privacy with Mel and he has a new job ( which is a decent honest job, for a worthwhile cause) ..and is using his celebrity to help raise money for charitable events...

Personally, I find his choices admirable

Did you not see her on 'Public Opinion' DD ?

I expect her people are still assessing the offers...........you have to be careful, you can't take any old tripe .......history is littered with the shattered careers of ex RTV 'stars' who took the quick buck

I wonder if Katie rents out some of her properties to poor people...........perhaps Alex could pull some strings.

Can we have some clarification here please people.

Where is Alex being a Rent Collector's jobsworth? Is it for a private company, a charity or for a council?

I wouldn't want to dive in on this thread without getting my facts right.

Any pictures of Alex in a council donkey jacket will be much appreciated.

And the other sad thing about Alex is the way he attracts the most sycophantic fan following.
