Vinyl on the increase
Sales of Vinyl increased 40% in 2011 whereas sales on CD plummeted
Any Fans of Vinyl out there? And Is this just a blip? |

I'm twenty love collecting vinyl artwork but for me still digital/Cd overall its just easier and i can;t work the needle
i don't think its a blip there is a demand and vinyl is now more available there is a section in most big HMV's so i think it could stick especially as technology ahs caught up and you can put vinyl on itunes etc

Love the sound of vinyl and kept my old LPs and turntable. Unfortunately most didn't and dumped both of them as soon as cd became available. The sound quality of most cds has been very disappointing but most people don't care much about sound quality any more I really don't see a serious revival in LPs as it appears the public's interest in music has been on the wane at least since the 90s.

Yup, I'm 17 and I love vinyl records, besides the great sound quality on a decent record there's just something really special about putting it on the platter and putting the needle on that you can't get with downloads or even cd's. Oldies like The Beatles, Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Beach Boys etc just seem right to me on vinyl, the artwork and packaging is also a plus for me and looks terrific! I am however putting of playing my best records until I can save up for a good quality used Technics 1210mk2. (Got my eye on one!
)P.S Am I the only one annoyed by the stereotype that all vinyl is noisy and scratched? Take better bloody care of your records then. |

mp3s are great if you want to hear music on the move or as background
But if you really want to play and understand music - you can't beat the physical experience of actually playing a record.... You can properly see the artwork and you are much more likely to listen to the music in the order and context that the artist intended it to be in..... |
