People, do we think The Wanted can crack America? They've just played a sold out show in New York, they actually have a LOT of American fans, and they're going on The Ellen Degeneras show next week!

I think they'll be very successful over there

I think they have a good shot.. It seems like they have Scooter Braun, who looks after Bieber, looking after their US business as he got the call saying they are on Ellen..

They have a 10 date headline tour after the release of one single which hasn't even charted on the Hot 100 so I think they hae a really decent chance.. It seems to be moving a lot quicker than JLSs attempt..! They are the best boy band in the UK right now so best of luck to them!

Their music is too "Brit teen scene" for America IMO. I'm 15 and even I don't like them.

Glad You Came popped up on the US airplay chart sometime last year, for what it's worth lol.

It's going to be interesting, and The Ellen Show is a great platform to start from. Their 'british' sound might actually do them favours!

They are trying to get their before one direction. Clever strategy. Terrible boyband and harmonies. Who cares eh? As long as they look good and can hold a note...LOL

I don't see it unless Global have expanded their Capital Radio franchise state-side.

again the novelty of a all white boy band strikes again, just like a white soul singer

Why does race come into it? If we changed the word 'white' to 'black' in that post there'd be uproar.

They're a visually acceptable boyband with catchy songs. I actually watched something about them in Brazil or something a while back, and they can play instruments, I think, and they have writing credits on the album, as well as pushing against the record label to go in the direction they want to go. And they can't dance. I'm undecided whether they're actual credible artists as it's too early in their career, but when I was in Australia, "Glad you came" was huge in the clubs, which is a decent indicator that they'll do fine in America. They don't look English, which is a start. They look quite American.

One Direction will either be MASSIVE or have a bit of an epic fail stateside. They have the formula that worked for previous teen-obsessions Zac Efron and Bieber - floppy hair, so who knows?

They have no actual talent, do they even write? Monkeys have more talent.

Ditto. As far as boybands go they are average at best. I mean Blue in their early years were easily the best UK boyband for a decade yet even they couldn't crack America. I'm seriously missing something with The Wanted. Their manager must have serious shit on someone for them to be getting this much exposer.

Well you know how the theory goes - if you leave The Wanted alone with a piano for an infinite amount of time they will probably write Imagine at some point. Or something like that anyway...

JLS did a tour of theme parks, one TV show in New York, a radio tour and then released a condensed EP of the debut album.. 'Everybody In Love' did quite well on the US airplay chart though..

Boybands aren't big in America at all.
Also back in the 90's Americans only embraced boybands that were there own. Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC,Hanson no British/International boybands got a look in apart from Take That managing a top ten with Back For Good but that had a push with being #1 in Canada and about 30 other countries.
Basically unless they take some local American boybands high in the charts they are less likely to regenerate the genre with British boybands. Especially stateside where boybands are ridiculed mercilessly in South Park and all their comedy shows as a 'what were we thinking' type scenario with the two biggest BSB and NSYNC often mocked.
I mean Justin Timberlake even mocks himself in an American interview when he's asked what's his most embaressing thing that's ever happened to him was and he replied 'well i was in a boyband...'
That being said 1d and TW may do well but i see Cher Lloyd perhaps having more of a chance.

I can't see them doing that well at all. It's not like they're amazing live performers that they'll be wowing everyone on Ellen.

However, they definitely have the right management to do well in the US!

To the earlier poster asking about The Wanted writing their songs, they actually do! They co-wrote most of the first and second album, with some of Siva's songs that he wrote in his teens actually being put on the second. Also Nathan and Max wrote their last single Warzone(and although it got to like no20), they still wrote it!

It's embarrassing that these poor performers are representing UK pop in big old yanksville.

This was their best single imo, great pop track...shame it underperformed

The also play instruments and have done on tour and for live acoustics sets

Shame their label didn't listen to their fans who expressed on twitter that they felt ripped off by literally just downloading a track from their album rather than getting an EP with a remix/b-side and a new single cover and by only having it as a download rather than Physical CD.. It is their best single to date but I think with each single (except for Heart Vacancy>Lose My Mind) they have got better!!

They are a good band who play instruments, write (as seen on YouTube clips of them writing).. I'd prefer to listen to them than JLS or 1D.. Of course it is personal preference though..
