I reviewed a certain thread this morning and I am still mortified from when I realised what I have done has unintended consequences

I was sloppy -too quick to post -and didn’t do any research before I posted, consequently I overstepped the mark by a long way

I posted an apology on the relevant thread before I went to work this morning but it still bothers me partly because the direction of that thread was such that most reasonable people would ignore that thread after yesterdays combined action & reactions to the OP, so would not have seen that apology including the poster herself

With hindsight and on checking the posters public information this morning the reported age of the poster is something I undoubtedly should have checked before I posted

I am very very sorry - my mocking tone was unforgivable – I got caught up in the moment

In addition this has made me think that I may have made similar assumptions before If I have
(I must admit it does seem likely) its time for me to stop and reflect further

For those where I have made assumptions that are unfair
I can only say i am equally sorry it is unacceptable and I hope I have learnt from it

It cant change the fact it happened I am ashamed that I was so sloppy and dismissive when I should have been encouraging a younger mind

If I had said something like that face to face it could be considered as bullying- just plain wrong
In my view a bad unacceptable error

I really am very very sorry

I contemplated the best course of action to try and address this- I considered it unwise to send a PM bearing in mind the age difference- and I didn’t want to use this as an excuse to “bump up” the Curiosity Thread, so on balance I hope it is generally accepted I have honestly tried to make amends in (I hope) the least problematic and one prays almost an acceptable (if that’s ever possible in the circumstances) way

As I said I can’t change something that’s happened, but I do bitterly regret it and once again I am
Sorry

Not that it helps the offence but I am clear it is time for me to reflect on my future conduct

I seem to recall the FM in question just laughed off your remark and moved on....Personally I would`t worry about sending them a PM but hopefully they will see this thread.....and they`ll probably blush with embarrassment when they do!!.

As a rule I always think long and hard before posting and the only FM`s I can remember having a pop at are Veri and Blondambition on the BB forum....(although Veri posts here as well.)....both of whom are more than capable of looking after themselves....I still felt awful though for having a go at Veri for constantly critiquing virtually every post that appears on DS.

I honestly don't know what to say apart from it's fine,
I didn't take it as insulting or a put down, honestly I didn't even really understand what you meant , but thankyou for the apology(:

I guess your generous response illustrates the difference between the standards of my generation and yours

But I do think you have been very gracious - thank you

I think I should say no more due to the intake to several can’s whilst watching a derby FA cup tie
Followed by Peterborough v Sunderland which is 0-0 at half time
