Hey

Can anyone recommend me any good bluegrass/folk tunes - deep south US stuff.

I already love the O brother where art thou and Cold Mountain soundtracks.

Listening to the Civil Wars atm - fantastic.

Thanks

Have you listened to any of the work of the artists on the O Brother soundtrack? For example, Gillian Welsh's 'Time (The Revelator)' is a great album. It's not really bluegrass but rather more contemporary folk/Americana/Alt-Country.

Alison Krauss is obviously another popular artist on the soundtrack as is Emmylou Harris who has a wonderful catalogue. One of my favourite Emmylou songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAn0_K7bvCU

Also, there was a concert called 'Down From the Mountain' that was held after the success of the O Brother soundtrack which features some of the soundtrack artists and more. There's several videos from the show on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lswjecWmJkM

This list below has probably got some of the better Bluegrass album's in it - only an occasional listener (Alison Krauss mainly).Prefer progressive bluegrass or the more folky end myself.Bluegrass is quite a diverse genre - alot of it is not to my taste at all.

Don't take the chart positions too literally though.
