You know those are both really good excerpts you two have posted there. All these interviews from the rest of the world are really interesting as you're getting the global perspective of what the world thinks of her.
I've always been struck by the poetry of Lana's lyrics and have a slightly crazed tendency to waffle on about the lyrics on here, but darn that's just cause I find them so frickin' clever and yes I suppose you could say "Gosh, what a beautiful picture did she paint." You most certainly did Miss Del Rey!
And given the fact that we live in a world that seems to be constantly on the brink of financial collapse, large sections of society seemingly mentally screwed with all kinds of insanity like crazed gunmen going on killing spree shootings in the US, various wars, etc, etc Howl is possibly just as relevant now as it was back then. So I can see why Lana still loves it. I like it when she talks about her poetic influences, you can learn something from her talking about them. Gosh she's darned clever!
Nice to see she has a high placing on that French music mags list. Even if reading their comments they seem to suggest her videos are more interesting than her music (Grrr! excusez-moi but the music is tops too!) they at least seem to appreciate her and recognise she's a very cool person.
Keep the rest of that interview coming Veri, it looks really good. Something else I like with the European interviews is they actually like talking to her about all the arty stuff and her melancholy feelings, she seems to open up to them more and you can get a real picture about her. Whereas American or even some UK press interviews either aren't that deep, or just seem to be on an endless trip to try and expose her as some sort of fraud and its generally just loaded questions designed to query that ever tiresome word "authenticity."
Said it before, say it again, the most authentic thing of all with Lana is she's put together in Born to Die Paradise Edition a double albums worth of perfection that slays everybody else this year. Why would people like Bobby Womack have wanted her on his Bravest Man in the World album if she couldn't sing? She's ruled this year and deserved to be top every list!
