Springbreakers, mmm maybe! With movies I think she'll really pick her projects carefully and only do songs for films that fit her art values and style, plus that have a bit of crossover appeal. I'd largely see her going for arts films, but a lot of people would luuurve to see her do a Bond song at some stage if the opportunity came up.

And it wouldn't surprise me either if that follow up album is in the can. I'm guessing they're holding it back whilst Born to Die Paradise Edition still has legs and is selling America. You do wonder if the leaking of the new tracks is somebody trying to force an earlier release.

I don't believe this. Well I do, such is the modern world, but mmm is it just a nice "tribute" by an artist who is a fan or slightly shameless pinching of Black Beauty??? Willis Earl Beal samples Black Beauty before its even released in a "response" song. I suppose its a pretty enough reinterpretation and shows the song's already having an impact on people:

Really good. One of the best films i have seen this year.

Absolutely LOVE that cover. Easily the best Lana cover I've ever heard. It's just testament to her songwriting that even her leaked demos are getting covered now.

PS Born To Die (album) is up to #29 on the US BB200, the first time it has been in the Top 30 since July 2012. And it's current iTunes performance is nothing short of amazing for a 19 month old album - #14 in the UK and #20 in the US.

SS (single) now up to 16 on the US Hot100, Lana's highest ever single position. And it's got lots of legs yet because airplay updates are averaging 2m per day for the last week or 2 - now up to 55m!!

There was a time when there was almost 100 places separating them. It's clear from the spike in album sales that people are hearing the remix on the radio and falling in love with Lana's voice/lyrics so checking out the original AND, crucially, the album.

But mmm. Well she doesn't say she won't put it on the record (thank goodness, you've got to release this one Lana!), but she does say its "discouraging." Think she's flashing a broadside back at whoever nicked the tunes and saying if you keep stealing them I may never release them.

Not like I'm an expert on these things, but you do think the record biz really needs to find better ways of protecting their artists work, its not just Lana who's suffered. You'd have thought they'd educate artists in how to keep things secure and give them the best security software, but I'm sure they do. Hell I don't even think they do much of a good job of protecting things on their own internal servers given the amount of stuff that gets nicked. Look at what happened to Lady GaGa recently.

But I do think its not the end of the world that they do leak; I don't want to legitimise people nicking stuff but sometimes it can build momentum for a tune and act like radio airplay and create an audience for a tune. If Lana is still up for releasing Black Beauty, or for that matter any of the other 100 squillion songs that have leaked, I am still up for buying them.

Yeah it's amazing to think how these leaks can happen. They must be using the tightest security package to keep all demos and recordings under lock and key, yet that still isn't enough.
I guess there must be real snakes in the music industry to be leaking stuff but surely it isn't worth them getting caught out and losing their jobs over.
Or maybe I am being naive and it is the work of unrelated professional hackers who are able to steal the songs.

Is there a release date for the new album yet? Black Beauty is another glorious song and I hate how these hackers ruin things for the genuine fans

Yes I thought we had all this established by now that Lana is not allowed to retire, or at least not yet anyway. Might you know, let her off to have some little Lana's at some stage with Barrie or whoever, in a few years time of course. But we would definitely want her back after that. It would be a terrible waste if she went and quit music after all she's achieved so far. She's only just got started and she'll be hailed as one of the all-time greats if she keeps going, she just needs to cement that. So please don't stop.

And from a personal perspective, I'm a hopeless addict. Where would I get my hit of musical greatness from now??! Nobody else in the current music scene is anything like as entertaining and brilliant on a weekly basis! I hope she realises there's poor f**kers like me who are seriously going to go cold turkey!

I don't think I've ever listened to a Lana song without getting fully sucked into the music; every song is so cinematic and beautiful! Amazing how far she's come, still awaiting her role in the James Bond soundtrack...
