Just a bit of afters on that over the top marriage proposal of Kanye West's, because it did tickle me to hear this bit.

Apparently he begged and begged Lana to actually turn up and sing but she, erm, politely declined (can you blame her!), so he had to make do with "just" a string section in the stadium. Kim appears to be a massive fan of her though. Would have been even more mental if she had of turned up to sing, but you'd be struggling to keep a straight face wouldn't you participating in something like that!:

Haha thank-you for that one. My! Word! I thought it was over the top, but after seeing the video I can see it was on the out of this world and into another universe on the over the top scale after seeing that video!!!

Bit more from the Daily Mail, Lana at the Nylon Magazine bash looking rather biker chick cool in a badass looking designer leather jacket and fish net top:

Just to finish off with the Kanye & Kim story she tactfully says she would never have denied his request:

Great, er she can sing at the wedding instead then!

Someone -- or more than one -- at the BBC seems to like Lana's music. I was watching MasterChef: The Professionals the other day, and it reached the point where only two would go forward. As they came out and waited for the verdict, some music to establish a mood was needed, and it was (again) an instrumental "Ride".

Looks like Brazil LOVES Lana! Just to back up that comment from the poster on ATRL, they have this press review on Del Rey Online, from The Music Journal Brazil:
http://lanadelreyonline.com/lana-del...l-2013-brazil/

Flawless concert !

New pop star , Lana Del Rey made an unforgettable concert to the audience present at Planeta Terra Festival being held at the Campo de Marte in São Paulo .

The stage , which received a background of Paradise Tour décor creating a purely tropical, with palm trees amid musical instruments , and a high-definition screen , which portrayed several videos of the 27 years artist.

Youngsters , in ecstasy by the opportunity to see their ” diva ” didn’t stop screaming her name .

Lana took the stage with a crown of flowers and a huge Brazilian flag and than paraded her greatest hits .

The highlights of the show was when she started the first chords of Summertime Sadness and of course Video Games – in this one , seemed that the audience was going crazy .

I confess: was beautiful and moving to see everyone singing like a real choir!

At the end of the presentation , in the form of recognition the singer , besides the promise of a fast return , she went to her audience , that was eager for a photo , an autograph , anything that represents that moment that was so special for them .

Very calmly she answered the many appeals from her fans and in that way she said goodbye in São Paulo .

We were left with the feeling that she was the one that deserved to be headlining the event!

The day after the concert Lana shows her legendary love for her fans. She really is a total one-off. Name one other star who cares for her fans like Lana does...

Will just add to that, the Daily Mail's giving the thumbs up of Lana trip to Brazil:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...break-Rio.html

Glad rbautz updated us on the Brazil festival appearance as I might not have watched it otherwise. Loved the bit where she changes the words of American to "Like a Brazilian" to rapturous crowd applause. Notice the Mexican show was in an arena sponsored by Pepsi. They should have paid her a bonus for all the inadvertent stealth advertising she's given them through her Cola song .

Seems like we have on our hands another convert who has quickly become as obsessed with Lana as us. And all down to The Great Gatsby and 'Young & Beautiful' (plus the special effects reel). Well worth watching to discover how it's all done.

WATCH THIS... right now. If for nothing else than the earth and soul shattering incredible song accompanying it: Lana Del Rey sings 'Young and Beautiful '. I haven't been this shattered by a performance of a song since the first time I heard Jeff Buckley sing HALLELUJAH.
I'm now OBSESSED with Lana Del Ray (sic). I've just spent a pile of cash buying all of her albums today.

Haha, you've gotta love what I simply dub the Lana effect! I think we all have indeed have had a bit of that when we 1st hear her! And that how they did the special effects video was awesome too!

Have you all heard Miley Cyrus covering Summertime Sadness?:
http://www.directlyrics.com/miley-cy...sten-news.html

You know I would normally give Miley absolute zero musical cred. She's always struck me as the typical cliched former child star now turned into a "controversial" gone off the rails performer. As so many former child stars do. The desperation of "Oooo look at me I can stick my tongue out and take my clothes off, please like me everyone! Please!" None of her songs or singing has ever struck as anything special.

But after hearing her cover I would have to say my god Summertime Sadness really worked with her voice. Lana is still better IMO. Lana's voice is just like the finest silky smooth beauty and I'm not saying that just cause I may *ahem* be inclined to be slightly biased. But Miley showed there she's got a level of depth to her vocal I never thought she had. Very powerful country sounding voice she's got there. Well stands to reason doesn't it? Its in her genes. Made me want to hear Miley do a country album instead of the sh*te she normally does.

Indeed I think even Sinead O'Connor might have approved of that performance!

Miley is far better when her music (as opposed to her lol) is stripped back. I also loved her acoustic version of Wrecking Ball. And she dealt with this situation with great dignity/humour lol

You know you stay out of the loop for even a few days and you miss something cool. So just for anyone that might not know, as per this story from the ever excellent Del Rey Fan, Lana has said Tropico has an official release date of the 1st of December. Hopefully she meant December this year...I think I would explode if we have to wait any longer. That said the wait till near Christmas does kind of go nicely with the presence of Jesus in the film, so its all turned out nice:

Ok I'm gonna explode...Tropico's been put back again...aaaah we're OK, its only till the 5th of December. See either Digital Spy's own music news or the Tropico Teaser thread for the latest trailer.

Also, Lana has also become a film producer, of sorts:
http://www.theguardian.com/music/201...-johnston-film

Very lovely thing of her to do donating the money for that project, and further proof of what a nice gal she is.

The interviews with Anthony Madler about Tropico, both similar but different (I er think!):

http://www.fastcocreate.com/3023186/...ense-of-it-all

Time magazine:
http://entertainment.time.com/2013/1...tropico-video/

Great to see Tropico is still causing shock waves after its release last week. You know whatever anyone thinks of Lana she makes people think. Not many musical artists make you do that these days.

And just thinking about what she meant by calling it the "Farewell Project." She's probably far too cunning to ever really tell us what she meant by that, why spoil the mystery eh? Mandler seems to simply think it represents her moving onto to a different "character" for her next album, some think its saying goodbye to the Born to Die era. But I have seen some fans speculate its simply her way of saying goodbye to "K," her mysterious former lover who as we know seems to be the inspiration for so many of her songs.

Possibly the daftest write up has to go to the NME. I don't think their journalist had a clue what was going on, they get most of the facts wrong, but they still seem to have loved it. Well its got a Unicorn in it, what's not to love?:
http://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/t...l-reys-tropico

And just for something totally different movie magazine Empire have put Young & Beautiful in their list of top movie songs of the year. :

Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1) was just using the instrumental Ride stuff for atmosphere, like other BBC shows have done.
