I think we can all agree with that sterock85!

Yesterday certainly wasn't a disaster, but it is soooooo god darned frustrating that its always televised live performances where she becomes nervous. Maybe they shouldn't tell her they are filming it?

I think most people around here who have seen her live would agree she's out of this world level good. Honestly this is no bias on my part, I'm saying this as a music fan, when she's on top form she sounds not only as good, but better than the album. I've seen professional reviewers come out with that opinion too with no prompting from us fans!

Of course as none of that is going out on mainstream TV you still get this clutch of people that refuse to believe she's any good live, because to them TV is the only thing that matters in their dreary little world. Nothing else exists bar what the TV tells them.

Just for those sort of people, to answer their question why does she smoke onstage? Erm I think it might actually just to try and relax and ease those nerves. Not to shock and offend their dreary middle class world. Although that to me is a highly enjoyable byproduct of her doing that!

Anyway the Daily Mail have pulled their usual trick of putting together some nice shots of the show and I therefore feel unable not to link it. See she did smile too! :

Just got chance to watch the full set inbetween the world cup games as I didn't see it all from the TV highlights. Bar a few nervous moments in her voice its not so bad a performance at all, and the rendition of Video Games at the end was just gorgeous. I do think people go overboard in their criticism. Some of the comments on the Glastonbury thread on here about not just Lana but well most of the artists just reflect that people on the web tend to troll. According to some people pretty much all of the acts are crap. For instance I'm currently enjoying Kasabian but no "sh*te" in some peoples view. Oh and according to one person Jake Bugg who comes off a Nottingham council estate is "posh." Okay then...

Here's a link roundup if anyone is interested, the full gig:

Looks like Lana's a fan of Metallica... and horses:

Few pics from her latest magazine shoot plus a video of the shoot:

And looking at the top 40, Ultraviolence is still going strong at no.3 and Born to Die has gone up 7 places to no.18, 126 weeks now in the chart:

I like this as lot, though it's very different from Lana's version and has different virtues:

Thanks, kinda a little orchestral metal stylee, fun!

By the way have you all seen this lovely a capella version of Old Money she sang on the tour. Bar a little bit where she gets a dry croak in her voice (ah maybe she shouldn't smoke) its utterly, utterly gorgeous and its great to see the crowd know all the words too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yxQ3...xptzE0Hw72wSWw

The band need to learn this one to play along with her a.s.a.p.

I think its worth saying this songs really grown on me too, possible single at some stage perhaps?

After first making the offer to Miley, Britney & Justin Bieber, Sinead O'Connor now wants to give Lana motherly advice:
http://www.gigwise.com/news/92987/si...to-give-advice

Think you know you are a star these days when Sinead wants that motherly talk with you.

It would appear the NME are now Lana's biggest fans after watching her at Glasto:
http://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/h...c-to-super-fan

F'd My Way Up To The Top + recent interview comments about how she's apparently slept with a lot of music biz guys and was disappointed it didn't get her anywhere career wise have even cause even publications like The International Business Times to speculate on who (ahem) with:
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/lana-del-re...i-hold-1458181

Guess those international business people really need to know these things!

And I think that Rolling Stone interview turned out OK despite Lana getting fed up and pulling the plug on the interview, but the excerpts that weren't used are possibly more interesting:

Evening.

I'm listening to "Ultraviolence". I want to like this as much as "Born To Die" but I'm struggling. That said, I struggled with BTD at first. I had it in my collection for a good 6 months before listening to it properly.

What's happened with Lana? She seems to have dropped off of the face of the earth. What's happened to the promotion for this album? She was everywhere with her last one.

Just put a few links on the Ultraviolence thread, she's back, in style! Here the links:

Old Money live:

As the guy says at the start F me with a rake indeed! Its rather good isn't it?

And the photos of the show:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...y-concert.html

(And OK in truth she never really left, she's still kept playing her tour across the Atlantic. But I didn't want to say that too loud incase Virgin Radio who are still pissed at her for not playing their corporate gig in France are angry with her)!

Looks like Sam Smith has got the gig to do the Bond song. Gutted :

http://www.entertainmentwise.com/new...ond-Theme-Song

I don't like to slate people unless they make me really Grrrr, he's probably a nice enough lad. But how the hell can anybody seriously think he's a better fit for Bond that Lana???? His music is just so lightweight in comparison. After the success of Young & Beautiful + her Bond soundalikes Million Dollar Man & Shades of Cool I'm inclined to think its Bond loss more than anything else. Lana could have made something spectacular.

What has Smith done musically to justify it in comparison confused:????

I suspect he's got it purely on merit of being British and probably being a fave of Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes households or something. I suppose him doing well stateside didn't hurt things either.

That said, F**k Bond. Loved Casino Royale, but the last two film were sh*t IMO. Still dumfounded at how overrated Skyfall was. And I love Adele but Jeezus I cringe every time I hear "And the Sky-foooe, And it Cwuuum-bles!"

Its no doubt a poisoned chalice Lana was better off not drinking from.

Heavily rumoured, now confirmed, Lana has two songs on the new Tim Burton film Big Eyes:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/ear...del-rey-749904

Forget Bond, I think this is a far better deal for Lana. Looks like a really great film. She is really becoming the Queen of the cinematic sound track.

Agree with you on Skyfall being overrated and I personally think QoS is the worse 'cannon' Bond movie. But I'm not convinced by Big Eyes - Burton is very hit and miss, and he's been more miss recently, early reviews aren't stellar for Big Eyes either.

Nice to get a couple of new songs though.

Yeah I would have to agree a lot of Tim Burton's recent films have been poor, but I'm feeling strangely optimistic about Big Eyes. It looks intriguing and Lana's new songs should be a treat.

In other Lana news, her Interview with Maxim magazine:

But I suspect the pictures will be the main interest :

And Black Beauty is going to be released as a single after all (hurray) but only in Germany by the look of things:

Lana announces "Endless" summer tour for next year with Courtney Love supporting:

Quite a double act, hope that show will be coming to the UK too. Only U.S./Canadian dates announced so far.

I'll admit I've kinda got fed up of Lana interviews. The journalists always ask her the same boring questions and no matter how many times she points out "Lana Del Rey" is a stage name they still ask is she a made up character. You always get the feeling spins have been put on her words to make it sound more controversial too.

So this interview with Galore magazine has turned out to be rather good little surprise. I'm sure hardcore Lana fans have seen it already read it but here's a link, its well worth a read:
https://galoremag.com/galore-present...del-rey-mania/

And who did the interview? None other than Lana's sister, the ever wonderfully named "Chuck" Grant.

James Franco confirms he and Lana are just good friends and just happen to enjoy day trips to Coney Island...although he would apparently have wild rumpy pumpy with her music. Well wouldn't we all :

I kinda felt a little bit sorry for Lana's ex-boyfriend Barrie. Then I saw the video for one of his new songs where he's got a Lana lookalike to appear in it and started to think mmm, bit desperate always milking your Lana connection. The song itself was frankly a bit crap too.

However, this snippet of the tune they wrote together, Riverside, sounds much more promising and is milking his past connection to her in the right way:

Another snippet of a song, this time collaboration with Born to Die producer Emile Haynie on his album:
http://www.idolator.com/7574922/lana...teaser-snippet

And in a recent rather excellent interview with Grazia magazine (check out Lana fansites for translations, no official one available) she has revealed:

New Album out next year (poss Sept 2015 after her tour with Courtney Love).

10 songs ready to go with producer Mark Ronson.

Has a 50's orchestral vibe with a little soft grunge.

Sounds fab, can't wait .

Hmm. I was expecting to see this thread higher in the list since Lana has a new album out, Honeymoon.

There are positive reviews in the Observer (Sun 20 Sept) and Guardian (Fri 18 Sept).
