Songs that you thought were gonna be massive or successful hits but weren't or song that you thought were going to do alright or completely flop but didn't.

One is Papi by Jennifer Lopez, I thought it was going to be massive in the US and big in the UK (atleast top 15) but it didn't even make top 75 in Either.

One that I thought wouldn't be that successful but it has been pretty big, paradise by coldplay. When it was released it charted at 11 and then fell but then a few months later it's been a massive number 1.

What do you think?

I'm Not Mad - Alex Gardner

This came out in 2010. Good song, good video, good voice, good-looking bloke, seen a few times on the music channels. I thought he'd be a bit of a breakthrough for that year. Song doesn't even go Top 40 and he's disappeared ever since. Bit of a shame really.

First song that came to mind was Silly Boy by Eva Simons.
So much hype surrounding this song and it completely bombed

Totally agree with this! I bought the single and was suprised that many others did..
Also The One by Kylie. Great song but it fell a bit flat in the charts compared to her usual success.
I also thought Lights by Ellie Goulding would be a much bigger hit than it was...

Oh also, I thought 'Sabrina Washington - OMG' was going to be a hit... it sounded like one. Then bombed

"The One" should have been the lead single from X instead of "2 Hearts".

I thought "When I'm Alone" by Lissie would have been a top 10 hit but it didn't break the top 40.

I thought Battlefield by Jordin Sparks was going to be huge. I was expecting number 1 in the UK and US and thought it would be a real breakthrough for her. In fact I still don't know how it only peaked at 11 in the UK!

Britney Spears - Til The World Ends

Her best song in years and failed to chart Top 20 in UK

Diana Vickers - My Wicked Heart

I thought this had number 1 written all over it

Beyoncé - Countdown. Sweet Dreams - should have been top 2!

Britney Spears - Till the World Ends/I Wanna Go/Criminal - All awesome songs that should have cracked the top 15.

Jennifer Lopez - Papi. I know there was minimal promo in the UK for this song but I expected it to do better in the US as she did a few shows with the song.

Lady Gaga - Judas, Marry The Night - Both great songs that should have done better. I'd mention You & I but I felt it wasn't one of the strongest songs on her album so it understandably didn't do too great.

As it doesn't stipulate a year I'm going for

Hurts - 'Stay'

If Gary Barlow had been lucky enough to write this song for Take That it would have been #1 for eons. For me it's just about the perfect pop song but clearly no-one agreed.

Marina & the Diamonds - Oh No!
It charted at 38 according to wikipedia, I thought it would be at least in the top 20. Although, her album had been released by that time, but I still thought it deserved more success.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Bittersweet
Again, I thought this deserved more success.

Dionne Bromfield - Yeah Right

The Saturdays - Higher
It did good but I think it deserved to get into the top three. But obviously it's not just about chart positions.

Beyonce - all singles from this era - radio have some fault in that - radio 1 gave B really poor plays but promoted crap over her
Alexandr burke - the silence (#16 - best vocal performance from her to date but the black eyed peas went to number one after an atrocious performance) and broken heels
Leona lewis - forgive me and collide
Janelle Monae - tightrope, cold war and come alive
Mariah Careys Uk discography. some of her songs were and still are epic, yet she didnt get a really big hit until Without you - which was a cover - sad really.
Jay Z and Kanye with Watch the throne singles - especially Otis, they deserved to get more airplay. Uk radios need to be diverse in what they play!
Amy winehouse - besides rehab, most of her singles from back to black should have been mega hits here and stateside - at least the album sold very well.
Dionne bromfield - brilliant young talent who doesnt seem to get any airplay - hope her next album does better.
And many many more...

Agree with the comments on Alex Gardner. I'm not mad was one of my favourites singles of 2010.

The Pierces for me were the band who deserved more success in 2011. The album sold reasonably well but the singles didn't get the recognition they deserved.
