Hi all,

I have been offered a brand new Acer A500 at a really good price, but was wondering if a 3G dongle could be used on it or a MIFI device for on the move internet ?.

Many Thanks DJM

Tablets don't work with dongles except the Archos with its own brand one.

They do work with Mifi and others similar products,

According to the manual downloadable from the Acer website the USB port is only for connecting keyboards or USB storage devices. So doesn't seem likely it would take a dongle at all.

So you would be restricted to the built in WiFi or Bluetooth. WiFi should work with a MiFi type device. Not sure if Bluetooth could be used to attach to a mobile phone as an alternative means of gaining internet access.

Thanks for that information , I had a hunch that would be the case for the dongles as they are normally PC / Mac only, but thought I would ask. Thanks again for the information

If you already have a dongle one of these works really well with a tablet

3G and bluetooth often connect via USB internally.
Support needs to be in the kernel though so it depends on the individual tablet.

With gingerbread most no name ones should now be supporting a range of 3G devices.

Wow that does look pretty good & looks like it runs on the same principle of a MIFI device .
