Dog is peeing a lot

I have a female pug, almost three years old. Lately she's been looking out to pee a lot more often, it used to be about 5 times a day now maybe 8 or 9 times, and today on her walk I noticed she peed about 7 times in half an hour, rather than the usual twice! She isn't leaking or anything, and is squatting to pee.

She is getting her usual food (Royal Canin Pug), isn't drinking anymore than usual and the only change she has had recently is that she's been in heat - she stopped bleeding last week.

Anyone know what the problem might be? She's in good spirits and doesn't seem to be in pain, just in the evening when she isn't sleeping she constantly wants to go out to pee. She sleeps through the night ok and hasn't wet in the house. I'm thinking maybe a UTI - obviously I will take her to the vet, just wondering if anyone here has had any experiences of anything like this.

My first thought was UTI too... Have you noticed whether her pees are any shorter than usual? When my cat had a UTI he would sometimes sit for ages trying to pee, and either a teeny weeny bit would come out, or nothing at all.

Hope your pug is ok Definitely a good idea to take her to a vet, the sooner the better.

Thanks - I haven't really noticed as our back yard is more like a small forest than a yard so she just runs in there and I don't generally follow her, and when I walk her I didn't really want to squat down and stare at her pee in case people thought I would a dog botherer

The only other thing I can think of is that she is maybe bored and peeing as a displacement activity in the evening - since she hasn't gone in the house when i've been at work. Hopefully the vet will have the answer! Thanks!

She's leaving her mark for other dogs to sniff there usually at their most fertile after they stop bleeding for a week or so .
