Happy 65th Birthday David Bowie
I don't think anybody has started a thread to wish David a very happy birthday today.
Hard to think that Ziggy is officially an old pensioner now. Where have all the years gone. So happy birthday to a legend. Related content from Digital Spy:
- David Bowie at 65: 'Life On Mars?' named Bowie's greatest ever song - David Bowie at 65: 'Ziggy Stardust' named Bowie's best album |

Difficult to pick ONE particular classic. Love his Nile Rogers-produced stuff in the 80s but for me the ultimate Bowie single is

I'm been playing his music all day in tribute.
I hope he continues to enjoy his retirement, as his musical legacy of "subverting the whole notion of what it was to be a rock star" and his building up of the whole "the cult of Bowie" fan base (you can still find an old interview with Russell Harty when he was in his Ziggy persona and he was talking about his "Spiders" (fans)) is truly assured. As it is David Bowie's birthday it is appropriate that he has featured on at least 2 radio shows today. On Tameside Radio's Show that Time Forgot they played Changes. Then on Revolution Rewind they have just played my fave single of his, Boys Keep Swinging!

I got into Bowie's music recently (don't hurt me, I'm young
) and I really like it . My dad is a big fan of Bowie. I have listened to Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from Mars ( it was great) and I will soon listen to Hunky Dory, can anyone recommend what album to listen to next after these?Happy Birthday to David! |

A true pop pioneer. A real pop icon. One of the biggest influences on pop music ever.
More music please David. |

Bowie is IMO the greatest pop star to ever come out of this country.

agreed. He has influenced so many too. It's a shame he hasn't released anything for a long time. I heard that he decided to semi retire due to his heart scare a few years ago which was more serious than reported

Bowie is 65? All we need is music, sweet music and there'll be dancing in the streets.

I must admit I wasn't a big fan until a few years ago until my boss's son got me into him (something even my beloved late cousin, himself a big fan, failed to do!) and I realised just what a genius he is.
Hope you had a good one, David! |

Has anyone heard David's awesome version of 'God Only Knows'? He sounds very like Scott Walker on it.
