After seeing about 4 threads start bashing Louie, I just wanted to stick up for him.

Tonight he has given great constructive comments and seems to really have something to say.

He is taking it seriously and doing a fab job.

Well done Louie, keep up the good work.

He's not being as over the top as i expected, good, maybe we shouldn't judge people so quickly sometimes

He's sincere and takes the job seriously and makes constructive comments too

I think its a really well balanced panel this year

He is a great addition, he knows what he is talking about.

I'm so glad this thread is here! I didn't doubt that Louis would approach the position in a professional manner, despite his flamboyant personality. How refreshing to have 3 judges able to give a critique without personal negativity.

(Though, judging by the boos some of Louie's comments received, no one seems to have told the live audience we don't have a baddie this year. Or maybe someone did? ).

I thought he was going to be bliddy awful...

But he wasn't. In fact, for once, I enjoyed what the panel had to say, thought the marks were pretty much spot on, and enjoyed the lack of personal digs at contestants and each other.

I think he's great. He knows what he's talkiing about and criticises without being rude and personal. I'm so glad because now I can watch it again.

I agree, he was so much better than Jason! Based on tonight, I think ITV have found the ideal judging panel.

Huge improvement on that foul mouthed Jason.

Totally agree and he didn't try to steal the limelight like Jason.

Absolutely I was thinking this might happen with Louis but he certainly did not.

Absolutely - thank goodness that Jason Gardiner is not on the panel any more - Louie did give very constructive criticism and he tempered it with praise. When I heard he was a judge I thought "O No but he was a very pleasant surprise and think he will add something positive to the show. It certainly needed revamping and I am pleased they now have a panel of judges who are qualified to judge. On the downside I thought Christine Bleakley looked like a vampire - her make-up was gross.

I liked Louie on the panel I liked him anyway from pineapple dance studios and knew he would take this seriously. I did comment on one of the other threads and gave the main gist of my thoughts there but don't think it made much of a difference some people are determined to hate no matter what.

I'm one of the (probably very few) people who rember Louie as a judge previously on Sky's Cirque de Celebrite. I enjoyed him as a judge on that and I certainly think he did a very good job tonight - constructive feedback based on clear criteria.

I still don't think DOI's the same without Jason for all of his faults but I'd have Louie 100% over the uninformed gush that was Emma Bunton or *shudders* Ruthie Henshall

I hadn't seen Louis Spence judging on any other tv show and had gathered that he could be rather flamboyant, so I wasn't sure what to expect or whether I'd take to him. However I was pleasantly surprised. He didn't bounce out of his seat with over the top madness and he seemed obviously knowledgeable. I felt that he gave really constructive criticism and advice to the contestants, and his harsher comments were much more mild in comparison and tempered with humour compared to Jason.
