Chemmy Alcott & Sean Rice Appreciation
Just thought I'd start a thread for these 2 as I thought they were great tonight and it's a really well matched partnership.
I had high hopes of Chemmy and she didn't disappoint. I can see why the judges marked Jorgie top but hopefully Chemmy can work on her finesse which added to her good skating will see her as a real contender. Also it's about time we had another sportsperson do well on this show - since Kyran won they've all been a bit poor. |

Well without Jason's anti sportsperson bias Chemmy was Fairly marked.
She and Sean were definitely up there with the best tonight - she just neds to add finesse to the power and she will fly |

I absolutely loved her, she's got so much personality and determination. I loved how she attacked it despite being badly hurt in the past. The finesse will come with time, can't wait to see her perform again. It's nice to see Sean got a decent partner this year, look forward to seeing more of him.

Couple of mistakes in this week's routine. Still ridiculously undermarked though. Same scores as Mark & Rosemary.
![]() Pleased to see she got the votes and avoided the skate off though despite being second from bottom - shows she has good public support. Hopefully Sean can lift Chemmy's spirits this week as I still see her as a real contender. |

I'd tend to agree that it was better than it was marked. I hope she doesn't put lifts in future routines until she can really do them - because everyone does lifts ad verbatim anyway it might benefit her not to and try to use her strength and energy to her advantage.

Interesting article on Chemmy and how skating is helping her in her plans to return to skiing. I think some of the reaction to the lift going wrong has been a bit OTT. I do agree with Robin & Kati that this won't be her strength - she is never going to look as elegant or effortless as Jorgie in the lifts. However I don't think she can avoid lifts completely it just shouldn't be the main focus of her routines. Also Philip sad it went well in rehearsal yesterday so there's no suggestion she doesn't have the ability per se. Am also annoyed by some who are rubbishing Sean cos of the lift. That's just ridiculous. I don't remember anyone slagging off Andrei when he & Sinitta fluffed that lift the other year. Sometimes these moves come off & sometimes they don't. |
