Kate - A Fashion Disappointment!!??
Are there people like me, who think that the Duchess of Cambridge has become a fashion disappointment?? I was just looking at what she wore to the War Horse premier and it looked like a a pair of black lace curtains were transformed into a dress!!!
![]() ![]() I mean she so beautiful and has an outstanding figure and yet somehow nothing she wears enhances her looks or her physique!! I am probably one of a very few people that didnt even like her wedding dress!! She needs some serious styling!!! |

I think she looked lovely actually. She can hardly go out wearing a bandage dress can she?
Re: fashion disappointment - a disappointment to who? She wears British designers and looks good in all her clothes. |

Why cant she wear a "bandage dress", as you put it?? She has the figure for them!!
The only clothes I have seen her look good in is the dress she wore when she met President and Mrs Obama when they came over for a state visit last year, and various day dresses she wore on their Canadian trip!! She needs to up the ante on her evening wear, get better designers If what she wears is what comes out of British designers houses now, then no wonder we are called the Nation of Frumps!!! Very soon she is gonna be taking on a lot more overseas trips and she will then be a travelling rep for Britain and what this country does and has to offer, and if what she wears is representative of what we offer the world of fashion now then I'm afraid she is gonna let us down very badly!!! |

Maybe she feels comfortable in the clothes that she wears, which is the most important thing, surely?

I imagine she is the most styled "celeb" around actually. I think she looks fab, I challenge you to show me a picture of her looking bad since she got engaged

She is married to the future King of this country so she is probably very limited to what she can and cannot wear.

It is, after all, 2012, NOT 1812!! Anyway, why cant we have a really sexy, beautiful, stunning, hot-looking, Queen???? ![]()

I applaud her buying High Street clothes as well as designer. I think she dresses conservatively because she doesn't want to offend the royals - she's trying to do everything right and so far she's succeeded. The only thing I don't like about her dresses is that they often have a belt to emphasise her small waist - even the black lace dress had a black waistband on it. I hate belts on dresses!

Thats BS!! Look what Diana wore and she was married to our future King(the immediate heir, at that) before her divorce and ultimate death!!!! And even in the 80s and early 90s before the divorce she wore really beautiful outfits, compared to what Kate wears now!!! Diana even wore foreign designers as well!!

'Hot-looking' is perhaps best left to the girls on TOWIE. It's not about royal protocol, more about being dressed appropriately for the job - and I think she manages that pretty well. I didn't think much of some of Dianas outfits - even given that it was the 80's and we all had some fairly awful stuff in the wardrobe |

With regard to her figure and ability to wear bodycon dresses, I think she's actually now too slim for them to look good on her. The one time she has worn something like that - the beige Reiss one at a reception at Buckingham palace for the Obamas, I thought it didn't flatter her, nor did it particularly go with her overall 'look', what with her very classic hairstyle and reserved demeanour. |

Far from being a disappointment and 'letting us down', she's made a lot of best dressed lists (Vogue, Harper's, Vanity Fair, OK). Heck, I even see from another thread that she's the third best dressed politician (sic) in the world.

she dresses too old, you can still dress conservatively and still dress your age. There have been pictures where she looks like a 40 something housewife. She is also way to thin bordering on scrawny, she has done something horrible to her eyebrows as well. I think she looked happier and healthier before her marriage with that extra little bit of weight on. As for being a style icon if she was not part of the Royal family no one would bat an eyelid at her.

Anyway, in 2012 isnt it about time we Brits, and in particular, The Royal Family moved away from fuddy-duddy conservatism??? You can be a wife to the heir of the throne and STILL dress in top designer clothes and with style, elegance and chic!!! Look at some other European Royal wives!! Their clothes are beautiful!!

Kate to me is trying to keep in touch with her roots to a point and buying from the High Street allows her to do that her going out spending thousands on designer clothes all the time puts her out of touch with the common person who when she buys something from Top Shop or whereever can then go and buy it too and can get a little bit of that image and going designer shopping all the time also would be looked on as being frivilous at a time when the economy is so dire and people already question what the royals spend money on and believe they should be cutting bck on necessary expenditures.
While I think some of her outifts have maybe been a little old or conservative better that than her rolling up in a mini skirt and boob tube or a tracksuit. She represents the royal family and therefore has to maintain an expected image. She is the wife of the future king and I believe Diana was frowned upon within royal circles for a lot of what she wore and while yes the public loved it from what I have read it was not really considered appropriate within the royal family etc. I dread to think what would happen if some posters were let loose dressing the royal family. |

I heard on E News tonight that she's added £1 billion to the British economy because people are copying her fashion choices.

LOL I'd like to know where, because most of high street stores are reporting falling sales for the last quarter.

She is a future queen, her duties are more important than being "official royal clothes horse"?

What "high street" shops does she shop in anyway? I doubt she uses New look, zara, H&M, Jane Norman etc, real high street brands that people actually wear.
