Of course they are well within their rights to say it's the 'best ever' I have never said or inferred otherwise. although I can't seem to see many on here doing - I was simply giving my opinion... I was questioning however your 'critical mass' of love for it. I agree it's a popular video, just like The Sun is a popular newspaper and Eastenders is a popular TV show, but it may not equate with the highest of quality.

If this were a thread asking the question to name your 'favourite video' Thriller may come up with more mentions, but I read it as 'the best ever music video' which to me is a completely different question.

completely agree and with regards to the bib, thats someting that few are really qualified to make an opinion on as many simply dont know who created what, who really cut new original ground, who were the pioneers, and who were the ones that others followed.

However, there is no single answer for "what is the best music video" because it is utterly subjective, even within the music video industry. Different people have different criterion for deciding what they believe is the "best".

Ok, if you want to be literal, happy to play you at your own game: how can anyone (including industry 'experts') answer 'best EVER music video' unless they'd seen every single one? I've read the OP thanks very much, and I still see it as 'the best music video' not 'my favourite video'. Sorry, and I still say they are two different things. If I ask someone who their most favourite football team in the world is, and they said 'Torquay United' I would say fair enough, however if I had asked them who they thought were the best football team in the world and they said 'Torquay United' I would have to either get them locked up, or at least argue the point.
