Was it just me or...

Did Katarina take FOREVER to just say 'I save Andy' in the Skate-Off?

She went on for ages, describing each specific part of the dance very clearly.

No she took forever, though all due respect for explaining why she saved who she did, but she really didn't have to, unless asked

I liked her explanation of why she wanted to save Andy, I wish they would all do it - it wouldn't be easy when they were saving someone against their better judgement.

Her explanation was probably a bit more detailed than the director was expecting - while I was watching it all I could think was "I bet the director is having a fit in the gallery" as his timings went to pot! Robin, being the reality TV veteran judge he is (and Louie too with his experience of this sort of programme on British TV) were much more succinct. Robin noticeably so after Katarina had spoken - I'm sure he, too, was aware that time was running out and compensated accordingly by keeping his comments and vote to save short!

Bless her, she'll soon work out how to do it for DOI. I know she's judged 'Battle of the Blades' (on Canadian TV I think?) but shows on that side of the pond can go in for more long-winded comments from judges on shows like this when someone is kicked off, so she was probably modelling herself on what she did on that, but no doubt someone will put her right before this Sunday's show.

A shame, really, that we can't hear more of what the judges have to say after the skate off - it's always so generic (one gave a better performance second time/showed more improvement/stepped up a gear etc) before the person they are going to save is announced, but annoyingly the powers that be always seem to assume the average viewer has the attention span of a goldfish and won't want to listen to anything more detailed!

That's why I had no problems with Kati explaining in more detail why she saved Andy & i would have appreciated Robin's explanation in more detail too rather than just a silly soundbite. Of course if the skate off is a no brainer then it's not necessary and probably best to put the eliminated couple out of their misery. However, if it's close or a split decision then a bit more detail's good.

I appreciated the longer explanation too. However I bet the director will have had a word with her and we'll see a shorter version next week - Shame.

If they want to save time, they can cut down on the irritating wait when announcing the results. It just gets annoying.
