Exactly...the code for the desktop isn't even loaded until you click the 'Desktop' tile, so that proves that it isn't just a skin...
I don't like Metro on Windows Phone, but I think it works a whole lot better on computers tbh...Plus the interface is extremely suitable for touch devices...
I do however think that for the average desktop user there is a minimal benefit to upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8....they've hardly changed the desktop mode from Windows 7 at all save for a few enhancements...
Metro is not the same with a mouse and keyboard...they really need to do more with the desktop side of things imo.
