hey everyone!
On Sunday, I was lucky to go to Joe's acoustic show in Camberley, and it was out of this world!
I started writing my review a few days ago and i'm finishing it off now, here is what I have so far, i'll post up the rest as soon as I can!

Hey all! Here is my review of Joe’s acoustic gig in Camberley! Hope you all enjoy!

My Sunday morning began at about half 9 when me and a group of friends left my flat. I’d had a few friends over to stay for the weekend, and it was mine and my friend Justin’s job to get them safely back to Paddington and Kings Cross.
Megan had text me the day before and told me that there was a bike ride on so some of the bus routes were disrupted, but we should be able to get to the train station ok.
As we left mine, it was chucking it down! we jumped on a bus, only to find that it wasn’t going to the station and neither were any other buses.
So me and 3 friends had to do a 20 minute walk to the station. Now, that doesn’t sound like a lot, but when there’s 4 of you who can’t see a thing, when it’s pouring it down with rain and you’re all carrying bags or cases, it’s rather difficult! The rain was coming down so hard, there were so many puddles!
Where i’d not been expecting this, I hadn’t bought a change of clothes and within seconds the rain was soaking through my mac.
Eventually after long last we reached the station.
I felt so sorry for Brodie my guide dog, i’ve never seen him so wet! I was starting to get worried that either myself or him would get ill as i’d be in the same clothes all day until after the show.

Me and Justin whizzed round London dropping our friends off and then we collected my friend Chessie from Paddington.
From then we went to Waterloo and met up with Megan on the train. She’s so lovely! Her and Chessie got on really well! It was so weird, not seeing Hannah around. She’d not long got back from Florida so unfortunately couldn’t make the show.
We changed at Ascot and got another train to Camberley.
Eventually we arrived and Megan decided to have a look on her phone to try and find where the venue was. We had a bit of trouble as she didn’t have much signal, but eventually we made it.
We sat outside at a little cafe which was shut and talked for a bit. I listened to see if I could hear any familiar voices and sure enough, I heard Ian. He came over to us and introduced us to Donna who is lovely!
I think Taylor and Courtney were around but unfortunately we didn’t get to meet them.
After a while, Sparky and her dad arrived and we all followed the crowd round to the stage door to try and get a chance of meeting Joe. There were lots of fans round there.
We waited for around an hour and then we went and got something to eat. It sounded like Joe was doing his soundcheck and we were all really hungry.
We were a bit sad that Joe hadn’t came out as we really wanted Chessie to get to meet him as she’d never met him before.
We went to an Italian restaurant which was lovely and we all had a pizza and a drink.
We didn’t leave until 7, so had a bit of a rush to get back to the venue. Sparky’s dad then decided that he needed the loo, and we’d forgot to get the tickets off him, so we were a bit panicked that we’d miss the start of the show, but to our relief, he wasn’t too long.
We were row AA, right at the front. Megan was row C as she’d booked later than us, but Sparky’s dad said to her, sit with your friends and i’ll take your seat in row C, so I thought that was lovely! We were surrounded by Joe fans, who were so warm, welcoming and friendly! Ping, MaryLou, Queenie, and lots of others, I really hope i’ve not missed anyone out! I was sat on the end, Chessie was next to me, Sparky was next to her and Megan was next to Sparky.
One thing that I noticed about this venue, was how cold it was! You’ll hear in my recording that joe comments on that as well, it was really cold!
Brodie had a lot of space to ly down next to me, but he was too busy trying to get attention off everyone that was behind us, so sorry if he annoyed any of you!
I was so excited and just wanted the show to start! as Chessie is a musician and singer herself, I was interested what her reaction would be to Joe especially as she’s not seen him since the X Factor Tour!
All of a sudden, Ross began to play and the show was underway!
Joe introduced the show while Ross was playing, he explained that it was his first show back after being off for a whole month.
There was just Joe, Ross on keyboard and Alewin on guitar.
I absolutely loved What have I done! No overproduction, just Joe’s vocals with some lovely reverb on them, and a piano! I know I normally say it doesn’t bother me where I sit, but on this occasion, I was so glad we were front row! Both me and Chessie agreed, that at points in the show, you could, a little bit, hear Joe’s voice without the microphone, and he was just incredible!
The first song made Chessie cry, she said that that’s the kind of song that she would write, and she really relates to it.
I was so pleased that she liked Joe, she said he was a million times better than what she expected, she was just expecting the same Joe from the X Factor Tour 2010, but what a change in him!
I had goosebumps by the end of this and was almost crying myself!
The next song Joe said that he’d not sang acoustically since the promo of his Wide Awake album, it was Ambitions!
I loved this arrangement so much! it was slowed down a bit, stripped back, I just really loved it! I apologise for my terrible singing by the way!
The next song was Feel The Fire. I enjoyed this one and liked the acoustic arrangement. Chessie said that if she had to pick a least favourite song of the evening, it would have been this one. She liked it, but not as much as the others.
Up next Joe did a bit of talking saying that he’d had such a fun month off, it was strange being back at work. The next song was Someone Wake Me Up. I was getting a bit worried that we weren’t gonna get any tracks from any other albums as we’d had loads from wide awake, but not to fear!
Again, this track in particular, I loved the stripped back arrangement of it! i always prefer the Wide Awake tracks when they’re performed live, because in my opinion, a lot of those album tracks are overproduced and could really do without all the auto tune!
As the audience were applauding, you can hear Chessie on my recording saying that he has the audience in the palm of his hands. That’s so true, he really does!
Justin, who isn’t a fan of Joe, said to me, i’ve got to give him credit, he does get an audience going! he’s also said that he might consider coming to a future show. He does want to give it a go, so he might see if he can come to Stevenage as i’m thinking about going to that one.
The next track was MayDay, and I loved the little introduction that Joe gave about this song!
I think this one really suited being an acoustic version, just like on the album. I know a lot of people like it with the band, but I do prefer the stripped back version.
The next song was Memory Of You. I was interested to hear this one acoustically, as I think the band make such a big impact on this. I absolutely loved Ross’s playing!
Joe was saying how he writes a lot about friendships or breakups and when he’s in the car and he’s had a breakup or a fall out with a friend and he hears a song that reminds him of that, he shouts at the rain! so that put an interesting image in my head! we’re all gonna be imagining Joe shouting at the rain in his car!
I loved the verses acoustically, but for me, the band were really missing in the chorus. It just sounded really weird for me! I’m not complaining, I loved it, but I prefer the rockier version.
Now Chessie on the other hand said to me afterwards that she’s not sure if she’d want to hear the version with the band, now she’s heard the acoustic version which she thought was beautiful, she thinks it’d sound really weird with the band. This was another one that she related too as it reminded her of a past friendship that she’d had. It made her cry a bit as well.
It really got to me, the part where Joe was singing, i’m hurting, i’m hurting, inside! He just seemed to put so much emotion into this song, wow! his long notes were incredible, his voice is just so beautiful, so pure!
jado
14-08-2014
Joe then carried on by asking if any of us got stuck in the bad weather! I said yes! really loudly! Joe said he was coming down the m25 and there were hailstones banging on the car! He also said if anyone saw the lightning forks, and no one at all saw them!
He then went on to explain that the next track was a follow on from the Classic album he recorded a few years ago.
He said he found this one a few days before his tour, he went to David his manager and said that he’d found a italian version of Unbreak my heart. He said he was learning it and learning it and learning it and he just couldn’t pick it up. It wasn’t until a few days later, that He realised it was Spanish!
I was so excited for this one! It was incredible with a band at Haze, so acoustically it would be even better!
I was right! The richness, the purity, the softness, those long notes! The way he can roll his r’s! Just wow!!! I think when Joe sings in another language, his voice just has a richness that isn’t there when he sings normal pop. I never want him to give up the classical side of his singing, I love it so much!
I did cry in this and I think Chessie was pretty close!
The long note at the end, just wow!!! I also loved Alewin’s guitar playing on this one as well!
The applause that Joe got for this was great!
The next track, when I heard the piano playing, I didn’t recognise it at all. It was a track off wide Awake. Joe said that he remembers recording all the other tracks off the album, but he doesn’t remember recording superman at all. He said that maybe they pieced some words together or something.
This one made me cry again, it’s the one track on the album that I love, because you can hear Joe’s voice in it, not some overproduction.
You know the thing I love about Joe, almost every performance of every song that he does is different, he doesn’t just sing it like on the record, he changes a few notes, makes them longer or shorter, adds or removes some twiddly bits, he just makes it so much more interesting! I loved this arrangement of superman so much!!
Joe then said that after the next song there’d be a quick break. I was so shocked at how quick the first half had gone!
Chessie was like what! and Joe mimicked her which was really funny and was like, Don’t hate us too much, don’t be a hater please!
He then sang an italian track from Here’s What I believe, I think of you.
After this, it was the interval. I met some of the ladies from JoeMusicPromo Annie, Michelle, Laura also came over and said hello which was nice.
Then it was time to start the second half.
Unfortunately my dictaphone stopped recording half way through the first song If You Love Me. I didn’t hear it beeping at me saying it was out of memory, so unfortunately I didm’ get the second half recorded, so i’m so grateful for all the videos that are up! It’s a shame, because Chessie did some incredible harmonising with Joe, but he commented on it and said how good she was, and if you listen to some of the videos really carefully, you can hear her, especialy in The Climb, and In The Arms Of The Angel in Jukebox Joe.
After If You love me, was wide awake!
I’ve always loved this one, the new arrangement with the band, and the acoustic version, it just gave me shivers! wow!
The next song was Set Your Soul Alive. This was incredible acoustically! Sparky and Chessie decided to do a 3 part harmony with Joe which was really cool! Joe heard them singing and told them how great they were! He got everyone to give them a round of applause as well!
Up next, was Jukebox joe! This is always a fun part of the show!
It was so funny, as Joe said, this is where you get to choose the setlist, Sparky shouted out, what does the fox say! everyone was laughing so much! Joe was like, I don’t know, what does the fox say!
The first request was Dance with my Father. Chessie was so pleased that Joe sang this, she was really hoping he would. She used to sing this as well, and around the time that Joe auditioned for X Factor.
Someone then asked for something from Les Mis, so Joe sang I dreamed a dream. I’ve always loved him doing this one, I really want to hear him sing the full song live at some point!
Then he got asked to sing Nessun Dorma. I loved his reaction! He sang it incredibly though! Chessie was blown away by this though! I think from where we were sat, we could hear Joe singing this, but we could hear his voice a bit away from the microphone too, and wow! what a voice! Just incredible!!
Chessie then asked for arms of the angel, and I asked for John Legend, all of me. Joe then sang arms of the angel and Chessie harmonised! If you listen really carefully to JoeMusicPromo of Jukebox Joe, you can really hear Chessie singing along and she sounds fab! You can also hear her a little bit on happy birthday as well!
Then up next was the power of love. I’ve always loved this one as it was mum and dad’s first dance at their wedding!
After this was I look to you. This was incredible live!
Up next was time to say goodbye. Again, I loved the richness and the power in Joe’s voice!
wow!
Up next was over the rainbow.
After that was reggae umbrella. Joe asked what key it was in and he sang a line and Chessie told him that it was in A Major, as that was the key he had sang that line in. She has perfect pitch. Joe was like to her, if you were right, then that would be brilliant!
Then he got asked to do I will always love you!
I’ve always loved Joe singing this one! Chessie loved it as well, she just wished that joe would have sang the high note!
After Jukebox joe was how we love! I’m so gutted that my recording of this one didn’t come out, I love the performance so much!
Joe said how glad he was to record this song. He said that you can be so busy getting on with things, that you’re not focusing on things or friends, and his grandma said to him the other day that they don’t write your bank balance on your grave stone and he thought that was good advice. and joe was just saying that all that matters in life, is how we love!
I had goosebumps throughout the whole performance, I cried, just wow!!!!!
Up next was Get lucky! This was great and uptempo! I got up and had a dance and I think Brodie was causing a bit of havoc and saying hello to everyone in the row behind me!
After get lucky was Don’t stop believing. joe told everyone to not stop believing and to always follow their dreams! He gave another amazing performance! and then all too soon, it was time for The Climb, the final song!
Sparky and Chessie did some fantastic harmonising again and in the videos if you listen carefully, you can hear them on the chorus!
At the end we all gave Joe a massive round of applause and then got ready to try and find him outside!
We went out and waited round the front of the venue and a few people said that David had already been out and said that Joe couldn’t stop for long. I really wanted Chessie to meet joe, if it was the last thing I could do! I wasn’t bothered about myself, just her. Unfortunately sparky and her dad had to get home. Ian came over to me, chessie and megan and told us to follow him round the back. We met Laura round there and she told Chessie how good her voice was!
Joe came out and there was a massive cheer! His car got swamped with people as he got in! I was so sad that he’d drive off, but we all called out to him, and he got out and came over!
He said hello to Chessie and told her that she had a beautiful voice! She told him that she’d not seen him since the x factor tour 2010 and she thought he was amazing! Megan told a picture of them both and Chessie got her Joe hug! He then said hello to me and said that he saw Brodie causing havoc in the front row!
Then he got in his car and left. I think it was davids car.
Chessie was so happy! the first thing she said was how good he smelled! She said he smelled great and was just so genuine and lovely and she loved the way he pulled her in close for a hug!
We chatted to ian for a bit and him and Chessie instantly got on!
Then it was time to head back to the train station. I said goodbye to trudy and everyone else.
Me, Megan and Chessie were travelling until 1 in the morning to get home, but it was so worth it!
I didn’t care that i’d been in wet clothes all day, I didn’t care that I didn’t get a hug from Joe, all I cared about was that i’d made Chessie happy!
She’d come to the show just expecting to see Joe and then go home, but thanks to me, Megan, Ian, Laura and a few others, we were able to make her dream come true!
She said to me and Megan that she’s never known 2 kinder people to make someone’s dream come true!
She said Joe is an inspiration, he has the control over his voice that she longs for!
She’s definitely got the Joe bug now! she really wants to go to radlett, but we’re looking into it to se about the logistics of it because i’m not sure if i’d be able to get back home from kings cross or not.
If we don’t do that one, then we’re definitely looking into stevenage as Megan and Hannah are both hoping to go to that one, so we could all go as a team. Justin is also thinking about it as well, so you never know, you might see him there too.
But what an amazing evening, one that I will never forget!

Here is Chessie’s picture with Joe, thanks megan for taking it!

Great pics and recording Jade thank you - and it was lovely to see you and Brodie again at Camberley and meet Chessie
Fingers crossed you girls will be able to make Stevenage in Oct too. The full band gigs are quite different to the acoustic ones and there's a nice mix of them coming up for the remainder of this year. Then I believe it all starts again from Feb next year with our Duracell bunny

Talking of limitless energy, he and his team will be getting back into South Shields in a few hours after their 270-mile cycle challenge for TCT. From their blog 'challenge' is definitely the right description too, rather them than me! Here's the link to sponsor them for this brilliant cause anyway: https://www.justgiving.com/GENTCT/

Forgive me if this has already been posted but there's a nice video diary from Tuesday's Great Yarmouth show

and that new mash up was huge fun, loved it!

Also, just stumbled across great promo vid from Julian posted a few days ago:

Really looking forward to the next one on Sept 5th, Lichfield

Well done to Joe and his team cycling 300 miles in aid of TCT. He truly is a great ambassador for the charity and it is not just a title to put on his CV. Great effort to all involved.

so, tonight on itv2 they showed the top 10 best x factor auditions that the nation had voted for, and the McElderryMassive did Joe proud! He got to number 1! I tried to film joe's part, but I had no sighted help to aim the camera for me, as i'm registered blind as most of you guys will know, but the sound is there. enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4Xm...ure=youtu.be&a

I've just come on to post about this

With Alex voted at No 2 I was expecting a Leona clip as No 1 (maybe Summertime), so it was a nice surprise to see Joe there

Another win under his belt

After him winning this, it would be a crying shame if he weren't on X-Factor this year! Come on Simon, get your act together and acknowledge that he IS very popular.

Totally agree, would love to see that happen but can't see it somehow. That said, I would never have believed his picture would be included in full view in the audition room, so miracles can happen I guess

Thanks Jade for recording and uploading the Top 10 clip so quickly, and great sound

Here's another video of it, including the countdown of the other top 10 acts as well:

I'd agree with many of them, particularly Alex & Beyoncé's duet - memorable for all the right reasons, unlike the AbLisa clip

But yep Patti-Ann, Joe wins again! He makes a habit of that

Looking forward to Friday's show in Shrewsbury. Not Lichfield, which I posted earlier (that's 22nd Sept), sorry! He has too many shows in his diary for us fans not to get confused at times and that's my excuse, lol - but am also not complaining!

Poll for the best ever X Factor winner:

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/arthur-vot...4.html#mMWd4e2

I'm amazed James is so popular

But I'm delighted Joe did so well

Quote:
“In total 553,061 votes were cast in the poll - and all 10 previous X Factor winners were in the running. But James took a whopping 46.95 per cent of the vote, while Joe was close behind with 44.99 per cent.”

The other winners had just over 8% between them, including Leona who I thought would have done well

If it wasn't for James, Joe would have run away with it

Thanks Patti-Ann and very well done to James and Joe.

Really all those who battle through round after round to be finalists on XF are winners in my eyes whether they're my cup of tea musically or not and I can totally understand their respective fans wanting the best for their chosen artist. For me it's all about live performance and whether they can hack it without the tricks of the studio and I've seen several of the winners live. There's some great voices out there.

My chosen artist is Joe (not surprisingly since this is his appreciation thread lol! ) I went to see him in concert last night and as I sat in the middle of the cheering audience watching him, his fabulous band, lighting and sound teams, all working their socks off to present a brilliant show of pop, rock, ballads and opera (and all points in between!) I was again struck by not only Joe's amazing voice, his showmanship and stagecraft but also how he drew his audience in with warmth and humour to enjoy his musical journey with him and his team. I love his love of music and how he's always looking for ways to experiment and grow with his music and songwriting. He's only 23 and I feel he's only just scratched the surface of what he can do. He said last night that live performance was the favourite part of his job and wow does it show. He's just passed the 5th anniversary of him winning the XF and here he is still going strong with 4 albums under his belt, writing and recording album 5 and just finishing a 60 date tour. He's also got a great pro-active management team who make themselves available to fans and who listen. Such interesting and exciting times.

And now we have the wonderful news of #EVOLUTION.
