You just know he's going to start teasing though don't you! Like 'I just love the sound of Peruvian nose flutes'.

That was a fab reply session and great to see some different people getting replies from Joe including KarinR

(and what a brilliant question - and answer - that was!!)
I'm still smiling this morning. As for my question to Joe, I thought if you don't ask, you don't get

Yeah and it was good to see him answering those kind of questions as well as the less serious ones

Blog by Clare Teal on the Durham Cathedral Carols of Lights

http://www.clareteal.co.uk/durham-cathedral.html

I’ll be honest I hadn’t fully appreciated what a gifted singer young Joe McElderry is. He won the 748th series of X Factor in 2009 and although he had a number one record I get the feeling he was chewed up by the Simon Cowall machine and spat out, bruised and battered, a couple of years later. Earlier this year he won the ITV competition Popstar to Opera star surprising many people with his vocal ability along the way. He’s still only 20 now! After I’d delivered my take on Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, Joe and I sang, ‘When A Child Is Born’ with all the kids and congregation and I felt a proper warm Christmassy glow bubble up inside.
Thanks to Paula

Thanks for posting Michelle. Fantastic! I can't wait to hear that amazing voice again. Clair Teal certainly sounded impressed when she sang with him at Durham Cathedral.

She did, didn't she. Think there's a special quality in Joe's voice that can never be properly captured, no matter how good the recording equipment. Never ceases to impress his fellow vocalists (or anyone with a good set of ears in fact ). That's my excuse anyway for going to hear him live so many times

Forgot to say, thank you Billie for posting the Clair Teal blog - love it!

Thanks Michelle. Yahooo!!

Hiya Poppet, welcome
Agree with you on this one - much as I love so many of the tracks on Classic (more because it's Joe singing them and giving them his own unique spin rather than for the songs themselves), I still have more of a preference for the pop/ballads stuff that Joe has always done so well. Songs along similar lines to Love Story/Human/Affirmation/Open Arms/Superman/Wide Awake/Big River/Home that he's performed live and clearly enjoys singing. With the exception of DSB I often agree with his choices, he has good instincts and even DSB works in his live gigs because he puts so much into it (but please don't let this be a track on your new album Joe )

Superman is still my favourite recorded track, closely followed by Wide Awake. They sound stunning when Joe sings them live, showing how criminally mishandled they were by the people who produced the Wide Awake album. Despite all that, I still love a lot of a tracks on this album and think it was massively underrated, even by fans (understandable as we all want to hear his gorgeous voice, which was unfortunately messed around with on his debut album). We know it was underpromoted which didn't help either. All water under the bridge now I know but I've been listening to it a lot more again recently (brilliant album to run to, it's so upbeat) and that's reminded me just how good many of the songs are on there (putting aside the production quality which was no fault of Joe's), esp since we've now heard all of these live at some point or other ... so maybe I'm hearing the live version in my head when I play the album! Actually I do now also have a 'Wide Awake - unplugged' version on my iPod in addition to the studio album version

'Classic', on the other hand, showed that Decca know how to showcase a great voice (i.e. no need to mess around with it, unike many other artists, Joe has never needed any technical 'help', his voice is naturally beautful and pitch-perfect), it was a beautifully produced album. So the 'Classic' treatment in terms of sound quality for the next album too pretty please Decca!

Just imagine how fantastic this new album will be if there's some blinding original tracks on it (maybe along pop/ballad/soft rock lines) along with some (lesser known) classics which showcase Joe's voice to a T. Add to the mix a track or two written/co-written by Joe and I really do think there would be something for everyone on this. Don't want much do I

Joe is very quiet today. I hope we have some news soon as to what he is up to soon.

I did not like Wide Awake when it first came out as it was not what I thought Joe would do. I do not like ambisions, where is Joe voice???

I have since got the album and it has grown on me. Love Wide Awake this should have been a single. When I watched videos of the tour and Joe sang Superman wow I love it.

My fav album is Classic, any album that has got Joe singing DWMF on it has my vote.

I would like original pop ballards on number 4. He needs a wow ballard to convert the non believers.

Thanks for the welcome x

All the tracks from WA are so much better live..I also think Wide Awake should have been the lead single..the live version is amazing..

Did not like the picture as it covers up Joe's handsome face.
