OK, here goes
We got into London about 6.30pm and hopped on the tube to Leicester Square. Coming up the escalator on the underground we stopped to help a lady who had had a bit of a traumatic journey and who needed to get to ... ... ... the Prince Edward Theatre

It turned out her son was one of the musicians in Tommy so we told her to come along with us
We got to the theatre and managed to spot our friends in the heaving crowd - it was absolutely packed - then headed round to the stage door to drop some cards and presents off for Joe

We saw Joe's dad - looking very proud - and had a nice little chat. Then it was time to head inside. The foyer was heaving and everyone was clamouring for signed programmes and posters, which were all being sold in aid of TCT
The Prince Edward theatre is a gorgeous building and the interior was stunning and filled up really quickly. The set was very minimal as this was a concert performance rather than the full show, but very effective, with the orchestra up on a mezzanine.
The first time / first few times we saw Joe was as the narrator, singing as the voice of the actors playing Tommy at 4 years old and 10 years old. It was all done very simply but very effectively with each of the three actors playing Tommy (the two younger boys and Joe) wearing a simple white T shirt and jeans.
Joe sounded stunning although there were times when he (and the rest of the cast) were a bit drowned out by the musicians. It was in the second half that Joe really took to the stage in his own right - acting as well as singing. Tommy must be a difficult part to play but he did it brilliantly, so convincing that for a while you forgot it was Joe and believed it was Tommy
The end came all too quickly and I could easily have sat there for another hour watching and listening (and gazing at Joe

) It was an amazing performance - the whole cast, musicians, crew and everyone involved have to be congratulated for putting it on to such a high standard in such a short time
Fantastic to have the privilege of seeing Joe make his West End debut in such a prestigious and well supported event. Just time for a bit of a lie down to recover before I'm back to the West End on Thursday night. to see Joe sing She's Out of My Life in Thriller for CIN
