Well done to Joe for making it through. Tomorrow's event looks like it is going to be good!

Really proud of him and it's amazing isn't it that he's doing this with only a few days training, not like the other competitors who have all been training for ages. The speed skating clip they showed at the end looks brutal doesn't it!lol!

Go on Joe!

Here's hoping Joe does well and no-one falls (or collides)

Donal should be good as he was runner up on DOI

Wouldn't it be safer to skate in their own lane (like on a running track)?

Did anyone watch tonight?

I switched on for the last bit of it. I'm confused as to why four people had to jump

I've taped it so will watch the whole thing and maybe it will make sense

At least I know Joe is through

Hiya! Steve couldn't compete in the speed skating because of injury so he immediately became one of the four who would have to jump to stay in the competition. The other three who had to jump came last in the 3 rounds of the speed skating. Marcus and Joe came first and second in all three rounds so they were automatically safe.

I just can't believe that Joe has battled through to the semi final of this with only a few days to prepare for it. It just goes to show how fit he actually is and all that gym work and running and cycling he does has really given him impressive strength and stamina. Those people who haven't followed his career and still think of him as he was in XF aged 18 have no idea. Really really impressed with this man! Go on our Joe!!

Me too - he never ceases to impress or suprise me. At one point tonight it actually felt a bit surreal watching him speeding along on ice skates, a close run thing between him and Marcus Brigstock competing for 1st place! Being honest, I would never in a million years have guessed what I'd be watching 4 years on from him winning the XF! And - watching him excel in winter sports, without the advantage as you say LL2 that the others had of weeks of practice beforehand, while he was busy being a Prince in Cinderella. Good thing he's at least an accomplished skier! But it just goes to show - a winning mentality is a winning mentality. And this is what sets him apart from so many others. He may not win this (though the bookies now think he will http://www.oddschecker.com/tv/the-jump - oops I see they've already eliminated Anthea!) but he's made it to the semi finals and been consistently good. Deja Vu

BUT - he has a big tour imminent, starting next month, so just hope he manages to stay injury free (which seems a big ask in this comp ) for the next couple of days! *prays*

So sooo proud of him. There's never a dull moment following Joe, it really is like being on a thrill ride most times - but I wouldn't have it any other way. Fun, exciting, and we know by now he'll always do us proud

What will he surprise us with next I wonder!

I've since watched, and yes I get why there were four jump off's

I think the original plan would be to have three (whoever came last in the three heats), but of course Steve added himself so they had to have four.

The second race was SO close between Marcus and Joe - Joe was in the lead for a lot of it, but Marcus just pipped him over the line.

If Joe already has skiing experience, he should be good at the slalom and speed skiing

It seems an odd way to score the speed skiing - the fastest time takes on the slowest time in the slalom

Joe came 3rd and Donal 4th, so they did the best of three slalom races, but Joe won the first two easily so he's through to the final

Donal might not be out, as for his jump he did 15.5 metre's - the longest jump yet

Thats how sport works. It was the fairest way. The best in the speed round takes on the slowest as they have won the right to be seeded first. If you had the top two competing against each other it would be very unfair and everyone would be trying to post a slow time so they get somebody easy to compete against in the next round.

What was unfair is that everyone who has competed in the show was given a special award last night apart from Joe and Anthea.

And he was the only celebrity to jump off the big jump!

He must be the only person to have entered three reality shows and won the lot!

Hah, that's a pretty impressive achievement!

I've only dipped in and out of the The Jump but Joe comes across really well, seems a really nice guy and actually pretty decent at the skiing. Glad he won

(sorry for jumping into your thread, I was just impressed at how well he came across on the show)

I've taped the final but not watched it yet

I couldn't resist going to The Jump thread to see what happened.

Who'd have believed the two substitutes would end in the final head to head

Well done to Joe for another win, and for being brave enough to tackle the biggest of the jumps

It's been amazing hasn't it and although I knew Joe was a good skier I never realised just how good! Got courage to tackle the Big One as well!! Huge respect!

You are more than welcome to Sycamore! Joe is as lovely in real life as he comes across on TV, a really sweet guy. What you see is what you get
Although I knew he skis with his family every year, usually over Christmas (that's not from stalking him btw well only via 4 years of interviews he's given!) never realised he was quite so accomplished. And I think this hat trick of wins goes to prove his competitive streak and how he throws himself into everything (being honest that was my worry too on this show, lol - somehow I knew it would be him that went for the K40 when Davina mentioned someone had ) but he does the same in every live performance too. It doesn't matter how big or small the audience in front of him - he always gives his all, as if he's performing at the Royal Albert Hall (which he has done a couple of times anway!). Never seen him give less than his best. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised he's won this

I was going to post links to some of the media coverage from last night and today but I think I must have RTd over 50 articles etc on twitter so I'm not sure which to choose lol

Instead of that huge bell, I think a trophy would have been better (like the ones they present on DOI)

I've just watched the final. Joe was doing well in that race till he lost a ski - and look how Donal stopped to go back to make sure he was ok. They seem to have become good friends

Yes I agree a proper trophy would have been much better. I wonder who pays the excess baggage fee for that on the plane lol!

Aw yes when Donal stopped to make sure Joe was ok and Joe was urging him on to finish the course. What nice guys they both are and it's been lovely to see the friendship. Actually it seemed that the group as a whole really did bond well in this show.
