Considering JLS are on their third album when compared to other boybands who were on their third album it seems they are still rooted in the teenie pop market especially lyrically.
Isn't it time JLS brought out a mature song like Back For Good,A Million Love Songs,I Want It That Way,This I Promise You,Stay Another Day,No Matter What etc etc.
Of course it doesn't have to be a ballad to show this progression ie Never Forget,Pray etc.
To me anyway there just doesn't seem any musicality there or want to progress (which should be natural).
The question is do you think JLS will ever come out with a song that even those who detest these type of bands has to admit is a good song like (in my opinion only) the songs mentioned above?

The thing with them is unlike some other uk bands (The Saturdays, The Wanted etc) they have actually declined in quality as their albums come out.
Their first album was awesome, was quite ecclectic and had loads of catchy, mature tunes, however since album 2 they've been churning out this generic, forgettable trash and its a shame because they can sing.

The only songs of theirs I like are She Makes Me Wanna and the new one (Do You Feel What I Feel?). A lot of their stuff sounds really dated. And don't get me started on The Club Is Alive - that was a crime against music! I think the problem might be that they're releasing new albums every year. Maybe they need to wait til 2013 to bring out their next album.

Aston or Marvin should go solo....as a group they are coming close to end of their shelf-life imo.

JLS are fine. This year they will do a Greatest Hits. How many bands make it to that?

Majority of their fans are teens and by going for a more mature sound they risk alienating them. They should wait a few more years.

I think they are just sticking to a formula that has worked well for them. I wish they went back to their original sound, like the Shai track from their XF audition or like Shy Of The Cool.
I prefer all their 3rd released singles like One Shot, Eyes Wide Shut and Do You Feel What I Feel, to their other singles. But I do think they are playing it safe now..

Releasing a Greatest Hits after only 3 years isn't much of an achievement to be honest, beside they have only had about 8 singles haven't they. JLS are your typical conveyer belt pop. Keeping the sub-par tunes coming out through fear that if they leave to big a gap between albums they'll be forgotten.

Shame as Beat Again was a pretty decent launch pad.

This album hasn't done as well as the previous ones, I do think it's time they took a break and came back 2014

Aston is a cocky **** who think he is god's gift and Marvin can't sing.

Robbie was also very cocky, and not being able to sing didn't stop Cheryl did it?

I can't even imagine the other 2 going solo....Marvin or Aston could imo.

Rihanna churns out new albums every year and they sound fine! They just need to work with some better writers IMO.

They actually showed so much promise on X-Factor, too. I remember being so excited to see what they'd come up with, and then I heard 'Beat Again' and was like "wtf?" and then 'Everybody In Love' was just a joke.

Good singers, good dancers, good stage presence, good image......AWFUL material.

Er, it's very rare a boyband (not a male rock group ..) can appeal to any other group other than teens ... Take That are the only ones I can think off.

This is why they typically have short shelf lives, when the teenie crowd move on, you're on your own.

You can mature your music without alienating your teen fanbase, though.

JLS could very easily go down a proper r'n'b route (with elements of Usher and Chris Brown) but they just stick to the same generic sounds with every release. Everything about 'She Makes Me Wanna' was a cliche, from the 'oh oh oh oh oh' parts to the "naming countrys in the chorus" part. Their soppy ballads are better, but again they're so cliched and just not good enough. They got it right with 'Eyes Wide Shut' and 'One Shot', but their other material is dreadful. They could mature their discography and go down a different route if they wanted, I highly doubt their fanbase will abandon them.

I could easily see JLS doing something like 'Forever' by Chris Brown or 'Love In This Club' by Usher.

I HATE 'She Makes Me Wanna' -- One of the worst songs of the year. Particularly the stupid way they pronounce Africa.

I liked Beat Again but they really are the most generic of the generic club scene in UK music.

Why are some people talking as if they're supposed to be a quality act who just happen to be a bit lame 'at the moment'. They're dire, they've always been dire, and they don't care because they know their horribly generic formula shifts numbers and makes money year after year. Why does anyone expect anything else? It's like watching X Factor and actually expecting it to be about talent. If you buy crap then you get crap. Simple.

Glad to see someone talking sense. This is JLS we're talking about, not The Rolling Stones.
