I finally went out and bought a Bush Freesat HD 320GB Digital Set Top Box, I'm getting a 2nd cable fitted tomorrow so I can use the full features of the box.
My question now is about connecting the box to my network to access the on demand services you can get. My problem is my router is in another room and its not feasible to run a cable from there to the box. Can anyone recomend a wireless option to connect to my home network that will work with the Bush freesat box?

Just make sure you plug them into the wall sockets and not on extension leads. They should come with 2 x 1m cables so if your wall socket is further then that from the freesat box and the internet router then you can get longer cables quite cheaply from amazon as well.

I thought about that but don't have a free socket close enough to plug them into and to run a cable to the box.

you don't need a free socket, the plugs have pass through so you can plug the original device back in.

Apart from the TV, the digibox, bluray player, wii and cd player are already plugged into that socket.
I've found a wireless bridge to use that was recommended when I did a bit more googleing.

This works fine for me tidier than homeplugs and easy to set up.

They can't all be plugged into one socket? If they are and you have somehow managed to get 4 flexes into one plug top then unplug it, plug the homeplugs in and plug the monster plug back in.

If plugging an adapter in is all too complex then you're probably going to struggle with setting up wireless bridges.

No there not all wired into one plug! Not had a problem setting up the bridge either. The original one I had was faulty but the replacement works perfectly! Thanks!

I keep looking at these boxes. How are you finding yours? Does the BBC Iplayer work OK?

It's worked fine for me, had a couple of missed recordings for some reason but other than that it's great! BBCi player is good but have only used it a couple of times, but not had any problems with it connecting or stuttering during play.

Does it make much noise when recording?

I had heard that some makes of recorders have a noisy fan.

Most pvrs record all the time they are switched on, this is how they are able to pause and rewind live TV. Some have a temperature controlled fan that only works when required.

eg a box recording two HD channels and replaying an existing HD recording at the same time will likely require the fan to operate to cool the cpu.
