Yeah, in Hollyoaks once Mandy used to beat up Tony. It went on for a few episodes but I forget how it concluded.

She's certainly emotionally abusing him isn't she? The one time I remember her hitting him across the face, he slapped her back. And quite right too. I can never understand why people think it's ok for a woman to slap a man if he says something she doesn't like, but the same people are horrified if a man hits a woman. No one should be hitting anyone!

i know Waterloo Road isn't really a soap, but it's classed in the Soap Forums and section on here but they did a little storyline between Vicki & Ronan where she hit him.

Denise from Ee would portray it well. She is messed up enough to lash out when someone poses a potential threat to her.
It could be towards a man who is really masculine, but either totally adores her, or is strictly against divorce. After a couple of months down the line, Patrick finds out, manages to get through to Denise in a twohander and she seeks therapy to come to terms with losing Kevin, being left by Lucas, then he turned killer and held her hostage, being beaten by Owen, having her daughter kidnapped etc. And in the end she calms down. Maybe this man stays with her, maybe he won't.

2005-06-ish. It was during the only time I consistently watched the show, and it ran for months. This is HO, and they do like to drag things out.

In the 1979 season of Prisoner, Monica Ferguson was inside for beating up her husband, which is something she apparantly made a habit of.

What Jeremy Kyle show did you see this one if you don't mind me asking. Was it recent enough to be on ITV Player?

It SHOULD be done. Domestic abuse from women to men is not nearly as investigated as the opposite way around, reliable statistics are not available - as not enough research has been done, and on investigating the topic of domestic abuse you quickly get lost amidst a heaving mass of misandrists, all ordering you to think what THEY think. When politicians like Jacqui Smith proclaim that violence against women and girls is unacceptable under any circumstances (inferring that it's FINE towards men and boys) then something is very clearly wrong. Soaps used to be particularly fearless and crusading back in the '80s. Let's see some of that now.

While not a soap in the traditional sense, Waterloo Road hinted towards this in its' most recent run with Vicki attacking her boyfriend Ronan on one occasion... that went on for a few episodes but wasn't anything major.

Done in Ireland anyway. Fair city had very big figures when they did it but would imagine they have slipped back alot since as they never followed up with good story lines since.

Didn't Brookside do it? I'm sure I remember it being mentioned, even if we didn't see any of it. Wasn't it Olly's wife or someone? She used to attack him.

Am I the only person who thought it would have been better if Naesa had come back pregnant by Damien? Considering Suzanne wanted a baby for years and just lost hers? It would have made more sense for that to start the abuse storyline.

It's a tough story to do because anytime you see a woman hitting a man in a soap, it seems funny more than anything else.

True, I still laugh when I recall Pauline Fowler hitting Arthur with a frying pan when she found out about his affair.
