Further to my earlier post --- a man has walked into a police station regarding the dog attack on a 6 year old girl and was arrested on quote "suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place".
I hope he has the book thrown at him and the dog is put down.
How many more attacks like this is it going to take before much more severe action is taken to prevent them ?

ZipGypsy -- thanks for starting this thread.

I don't dislike dogs but I definitely prefer cats. Cats have always had a special place in my heart.

I seem to come across so many people who hate cats and love dogs...as if it's kinda the 'norm'.

Me - I really can't stand anything about dogs. They smell, slaver, never leave you alone and bark. And.....they bark. Yeuch.”

I know how you feel, I don't "hate" dogs... unless they're an aggressive/barking nuisance, but I don't care for them much either.

You're completely right about the "norm" though, an ingrained prejudice against cats seems to run through society though it's rarely talked about openly. I put it down to centuries of suspicion and persecution. Interestingly other cultures don't have the same dislike of cats, they may be indifferent towards them but outright hatred seems to be a peculiarly Western concept.

What also seems to be the "norm" is that dog owners expect other people to instantly fall in love with their pets, it's like "ooh, isn't he lovely, he likes you" when all I'm thinking is "get your smelly mutt off of my face!" and "he's alright, he wouldn't hurt a fly!" when this snarling fury is only waiting for a chance for the owner's grip to slip so it can tear me to pieces!
