I though the quickfire round said much more about the contestant's general knowledge range and ability than the traditional multiple choice format.
By my personal benchmark of 6 - 7 correctly answered questions in each Mastermind general knowledge round, I thought the questions were pretty tough - I scored only 6 against Marianne's 10 or so - which tells me that just based upon that round, the question standard was pretty high, not too far shy of Mastermind; or of course I could just have had a tough day! Anyone else think the quickfire round was reasonably difficult? |

What show was that?
![]() It's not really based on Boggle but I just remembered it had a grid of letters from which they had to find words. In this game they are actually finding quiz answers within the grid. I don't really remember much detail about it as I wasn't keen and only watched a couple of times. |

So, they are not looking for the two best candidates. I am amazed they do not have separate heats for ethic minorities, disabled and LGBT.
It's two competitions running concurrently, one for the men and one for the women, with their own heats, quarters, semis and final. Think of it like Wimbledon. |

She a Glastonbury dropout and a vegan, too whacky, no to her
A simple google will tell you she's a mathematical software developer with a PhD from LSE- hardly 'dropout' material. Quote:

According to my tv screen guide - Make Me An Egghead goes on for 25 episodes! Surely the search could be done in two weeks - ten episodes? Seems a bit dragged out.

Adding on 2 semi finals and a final for each sex comes to 26 episodes, so maybe the final is combined in an hour long special or something |

Has wacky hat woman been on Only Connect?
I really dislike her 'whacky' persona and hope she doesn't win the competition! |

It does. There are ten spaces on each leaderboard, so that's 20 episodes
Adding on 2 semi finals and a final for each sex comes to 26 episodes, so maybe the final is combined in an hour long special or something According to this, there are 20 thirty minute episodes (so that's the heats) and 5 forty-five minute episodes (for the semis and the finals). |

Not sure I heard the food and drink question about the pastry mille feulle ? properly.
If it was mille feulle then the answer was not choux but puff pastry. If I heard the question properly? Anyone else notice this or tell me I misheard. |

The guy who won tonight was terrible for droning on and on and on instead of just giving the answer
They probably know that its the reasoning that will get them the gig, not just knowing the answers.......but it does make it a bit of an ordeal to watch ! |

No surprise Ian Bayley won. He's got quite a pedigree:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Bayley I think I preferred the old format of this show, when it was called 'Are You an Egghead?' - it was a straight knock-out format, with plenty more questions, none of this dithering around with a leaderboard and having 2 minutes to score as many points as possible. |

If it's even possible, the guy that won today's show Ian seemed to be a more annoying version of CJ, had the same sort of mannerisms
